Google SEO Indexing Tools

Is my website indexed?

With the free Google SEO indexing tools, you can find out how many pages of a URL have been indexed, with the sitemap tool, which ones should be indexed and with the robots.txt tool, which pages should be excluded from the index. Our video will tell you more.

Google SEO Indexing Tools - How to find out if your site is really indexed

In the last episode, we told you how to find out what position you really are in on the Google search results page for a particular keyword. Because even if you would check the whole thing in the incognito browser, it would not be a neutral search. However, this neutrality is guaranteed with our Ranking Checker. In today’s episode, we’ll introduce you to our other search engine tools that address indexing.
So if you want to know how these work, it’s best to watch until the end. We will present all other tools in the next few days.

What does indexing mean?

But first: What exactly does “indexing” mean?
Basically, the process of making your website available in Google search results consists of three steps. The crawling, the indexing and the deployment itself.
When crawling, Google downloads text, images and videos from pages found on the Internet using automatic programs.
During indexing, Google analyzes the text, image and video files on the page and stores the information in a large database, the Google index. When a user enters a search query, Google returns information relevant to the user’s search query. So that’s the deployment.

How the Google Bot works

However, not every website and subpage that exists on the World Wide Web is indexed. The Google Bot, i.e. Google’s crawler, works in such a way that it shimmies along references. These can be links, for example. Therefore, the deeper the directory structure is, the less the page is considered by the crawler. That means “ebakery.com/jtl-service-partner” is prioritized higher than “ebakery.com/blog/jtl-software/service-partner” for example.
In addition to links, the sitemap can also contribute to the Google Bot becoming aware of certain pages.
We’ve already demonstrated how to submit this to Google using Shopify in the video linked above right.

Google SEO Indexing Tools - View the sitemap of each URL

So the bottom line is: not every subpage is indexed automatically. But you can use links and the sitemap for that. This is where our free eBakery SEO tools come into play, which by the way are linked in the video description.
You can use these to find out how many of your pages are actually indexed by both Google and Bing.
We have tried this out on the basis of heise.de. Furthermore, you can determine the sitemap URL for the respective page, which you then only have to enter in your browser to check which subpages the operator would like to have indexed. This makes less sense for yourself, but to take a look behind the scenes of the competition, this tool is ideal.

Google SEO Indexing Tools - Exclude from Indexing

But what if Google has indexed a page that should rather remain hidden. The imprint would be for example such a page. Then the robots.txt file can be used, with which quasi instructions can be given to the Google Bot. Let’s just check that for Zalando.de. From this you can see that the subpages “/cart”, “/wardrobe”, “/myaccount” etc. should remain hidden from all search engines. And a special subdirectory for Bing should not be indexed. That means, if a special page of yours just won’t be indexed, go to our free tool, enter your URL and see if maybe exactly this one is accidentally set to “non-index”. At least that is what you would see here.
