Officially, OnlyFans justifies the image change by saying that they want to meet requirements from banks and payment processors. But the platform’s investors also put pressure on the company. It said “To keep the platform running sustainably in the long term, it would be necessary to revise the platform’s content guidelines.” OnlyFans is also planning a streaming app that will primarily feature videos about fitness, music, comedy and cooking. Such an app would not be available for download on Apple’s App Store or Google Play as long as there is pornography on OnlyFans. Both stores prohibit apps of this type.
OnlyFans in the crosshairs
Another reason for the restructuring is the constant criticism. As recently as the beginning of August 2021, 100 members of the U.S. Congress asked the Department of Justice in the U.S. to open various investigations against OnlyFans for exploiting minors. The BBC had also investigated against OnlyFans. They accused you of deleting illegal content but not deactivating the accounts. Finally, the German youth protection also complained about OnlyFans.
