Social Shopping with Shopware

Transfer product data to Instagram, Facebook & Co.

This tutorial is about social shopping with Shopware 6. Why it makes sense to also offer your products via Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest and how the transfer works with Shopware, you will learn in the video.

Social Shopping with Shopware - You benefit from the Professional Plan

We are often asked the question: What is the difference between the “Shopware Community Edition” and the Enterprise and Professional plan and when is it worthwhile. We can’t answer this question in full in this video, but we would recommend that you consult our Shopware experts. But what we’re talking about is an extension that is included in both the Professional and Enterprise plans that allows you to do social shopping. What this is and how it works, we explain to you now.

What is social shopping?

Social Shopping is an extension for Shopware 6 that you can add for free in the Shopware Store if you have booked one of the two plans as mentioned. Finally, you will get the advantage of product synchronization. Recently we had shown how the link between Shopify and Instagram works, this Shopware extension fulfills this purpose. You can transfer your product data that already exists in Shopware to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Google.

Social Shopping with Shopware - The advantages

But before we show how to do that, let’s ask ourselves about the benefits. Why should you do that?
On the one hand, the advantage of doing so is not to rely on just one mainstay, but on several. With Facebook, Instagram and the like, you reach a different target group and increase your brand awareness at the same time. In our opinion, it is therefore worth considering social shopping as a second online store alternative alongside marketplace sales.
Once you have integrated the extension, you have to choose one of the 4 offered options.
The provision of products is solved via dynamic product groups. If you are not familiar with them yet, we link the appropriate tutorial for you in the upper right corner. In short, these product groups make it possible to select certain products by rule assignment, which we already know from the Rule Builder. Thus, for example filtered only according to a specific manufacturer.

How to create the sales channel

Once you have created your desired dynamic product group, you need to maintain the general information. So to assign any name, as well as assign the appropriate Sales Channel + Domain. You do the same for the product group in the “Products” section and then you have to enter the Google product category number.
Depending on the product, this number varies. This means that you have to determine this yourself in the Google support area. At the end you have the option to choose a synchronization interval, so that changes in the store are also transferred to your social media shopping channels.
