JTL Shop 5 filter features

Features for better filtering capability

How to create and integrate filter features in your JTL Shop 5 to offer your customers a better filtering option, you will learn in this JTL Shop 5 tutorial. This improves the usability of your store, provides more structure and saves your customers the long search.

Improve usability through JTL Shop 5 filter features

In this JTL Shop 5 blog we explain how you can help your customers find their way around your product range. This can be done by means of filter features. In order to be able to enter these for your JTL store 5 and ultimately use them in the filter box, we store the characteristics in the Wawi.

How to create a new feature in JTL-Wawi

To create a new feature, go to the Articles and Features menu item. Here you get the possibility to create a new feature or to view your already existing features. We create a new one, so we click on the button provided for it and name it. We want to order our items by weight once for demonstration purposes, so we enter weight.
Features are usually only displayed when you are in a specific category. They are then used to further filter the display results. However, if you want the possibility to select features already on the start page of the JTL store, these features can be defined as a global feature. Otherwise, make sure that the checkmark is set at “Use as article feature in online store“.

How to integrate your JTL Shop 5 filter features

Then add values to the feature by clicking Add Values and specify them, and then save. Now go into your articles, select the category Attributes / Characteristics in the article master data and click on Assign Characteristics at the bottom. Then we can add our just created feature to the two products. With this, we have stored our characteristics to be filtered and can perform the store comparison.

Check the filter options in your frontend

If we then go to our frontend, in our supplements sub-category we see both products, but now we want to filter each of them. This filter is located in the left column, at the bottom. And with this, your customers can now find your assortment according to the stored characteristics.

How to enable the options for the JTL Shop 5 filter features in the backend

If this filter option is not available for you, go to your JTL Shop 5 backend in the main category Appearance under Standard Elements on Footer and Boxes. Here you can view your box management and set it page by page or make global settings. Make sure that the status of your desired box is set to “visible”.
