JTL-Wawi 1.8 - Order to a central warehouse

How to save shipping costs

We present you one of the new features of JTL-Wawi 1.8 version, which allows you to send an order to a central warehouse. Should JTL-Wawi determine with the help of the “order proposal” function that there is demand at two locations, the merchandise management system would propose two deliveries. In some cases, however, this is logistically inefficient, as delivery to the central warehouse would make more sense. Therefore we show you how to use this new JTL-Wawi 1.8 feature.

The order suggestions from JTL-Wawi

Before I explain to you what exactly the innovation is, I would like to go a bit further, so that Wawi starters can also follow it. The whole thing has to do with the order proposals. These are there to fill your warehouse optimally. In the JTL documentation it says: “Using the order proposal, you can determine the probable demand for the future based on the items that physically leave your warehouse.” This allows JTL-Wawi to determine how much probable demand exists in each warehouse. Therefore “order proposal” – The merchandise management determines the probable demand and passes it on to you.

JTL-Wawi 1.8 - Send order to a central warehouse | How to do it

But what if you, for example. have a warehouse and retail store in the immediate vicinity?
Then two orders would normally be generated, but this would ultimately be unnecessary. Therefore, there is now a new function in JTL-Wawi 1.8 with which a central warehouse is defined, to which the entire, required stock would be sent in one delivery. If you compare the screenshot from the documentation of the 1.7 version and our 1.8 version, this new box is missing, behind which it says: “Order demand of the entire target area for destination with highest priority”. This means you would have to assign the highest priority to your central warehouse in the menu for “Create warehouse”. At least a higher priority than the retail store. Then this would also be displayed here as a prioritized target area. Since we only work with a test-awi, we will show you the difference, what happens if you set the hook and if not, using JTL’s own example. Here you can see that the total quantity of the order proposal is 1200 pieces. 1000 to the warehouse and 200 to the store. We’ll now take a look at what changes when we set the hook. Now the warehouse in Berlin was identified as the central warehouse and the full 1200 units would be sent there.
