How to install this live chat in the JTL store
Integrate the Smartsupp live chat software into your JTL Shop 5 – Find out how it works here. We show you how to set up a Smartsupp account for free, how to install the code via FTP client in the JTL store and thus easily use the live chat in the JTL store 5.

Have you ever wondered what sets you apart from the competition as a retailer? Most of the time, the wheat is separated from the chaff when it comes to support. In order to be there for your customers in the most direct way, there is the possibility to integrate a live chat into your store. How to integrate this into your JTL Shop 5 using the Live Chat software from SmartSupp, we show you in this video. The first step is to go to the Smartsupp website and create a free account. For this purpose you can also simply use e.g. your Google account, but you can also create a completely new account. In the next step, you can customize the appearance of your live chat and choose the language for it. Click “Continue” and choose a name to be displayed in the upper part of the chat window. In the next step, you can enter the message that will “pop up” at the page visitor. Enter your store domain here and you are already done with the settings in SmartSupp.
Copies the Smartsupp code in your JTL store 5
Copy the code to your clipboard and access your JTL store 5. We accomplish this with the FTP client FileZilla. There we go into our template folderand select our currently active template. If you watched or read the previous episode, you know that we use the NOVA template as a basis. In the Nova template we go to the Layout folder and want to integrate our SmartSupp code in the footer.tpl file. I myself could not open the file directly in FileZilla, so I dragged it to my desktop and opened it there with Sublime.

Scroll all the way down in the script to your Java Script block and paste it here. As you can see, it has already been integrated into our system. To make sure that our Java Script is considered and activated, we open and end the passage with “{literal}”. Then save in Sublime and reintegrate the .tpl file in FileZilla in your JTL store 5. Now your live chat is ready and can be viewed in the store frontend.
