What is picking - Picking with JTL WMS
But first, let’s take a look at the basic terminology. What does picking mean?
Picking is the compilation of specific partial quantities from a total quantity provided on the basis of orders. This can be a customer order or a production order. For JTL WMS there are several picking processes. For example, there are rolling picking, the shipping box method or EazyShipping. But no matter which one you choose at that moment, what will make your life easier in any case is an MDE device. As already mentioned, MDE stands for Mobile Data Entry Device and is used to scan your items to quickly and easily match them with your pick list.

But what other advantages does the JTL-WMS Mobile-MDE device combination offer you?
The data is stored directly in the device, the item is checked for validity during scanning, differences are reported directly and every action can be checked afterwards. This means that you not only save time, but also reduce the error rate.

But what should you look for in such a device?
It should have enough memory to be able to integrate your products, it should be robustly built to withstand the dusty, hard everyday life in the warehouse for a long time, it should not be too heavy and it should have a good battery life or the possibility to exchange the battery, as it is the case with the Samsung Galaxy S5 was the case.
The rugged enterprise-class "Zebra TC77" device
With 32 GB of memory, the Zebra TC77 already fulfills the first criterion. 4 GB of RAM, an octa-core processor, and compatibility with the latest Android operating system provide the necessary performance. It only weighs 376 g, but is more than robustly built incl. IP 65/67 certificate and can thus survive one or two drops, unlike a conventional smartphone.
The battery lasts up to 15 hours, an HD touch display is installed, and if the Wi-Fi coverage leaves much to be desired, the use via SIM is also guaranteed.
Thus, the Zebra TC77 offers everything an MDE device needs and is also assigned to the enterprise class in the Zebra product range.
The cheaper alternative - Zebra TC26 / Sunmi L2
A much cheaper option would be the Zebra TC 26. The battery capacity could even be expanded with a performance battery with a capacity of 5260 mAH instead of 3300 mAh. It is lighter and less robust, but is otherwise in no way inferior to its big brother. HD touch display, 32 or also available as 64 Gb memory version, also a 1-D and 2-D scanner and the latest Android operating system. The Sunmi L2 would also be an alternative if further compromises can be made. Powerful battery, HD display and 1.2m drop height protected. However, it only offers a quad-core processor, Android 7.1, 2 GB of RAM and 16 Gb of storage. However, if this is sufficient for your warehouse, you can also use JTL-WMS mobile in your warehouse.
