JTL-WMS Starter Pack JTL-WMS Starter Pack

This hardware you need for your warehouse

The JTL-WMS Starter Pack includes the hardware you need for your warehouse to get started with JTL’s warehouse management system. Find out which printer you need, why a fanless PC is preferable and where you can buy this hardware in the video.

JTL-WMS Starter Pack - basic equipment for the warehouse management system

A solution if you need a management software exclusively for your warehouse is JTL-WMS.
WMS stands for warehouse management system. How this works, how to link it to Wawi and what the advantages are, you can see from our linked playlists.

What hardware is needed?

Today’s episode will be about what hardware you need as Starter Pack equipment to be able to run JTL-WMS in your warehouse as well.
All recommended products are now available for purchase in the eBakery Shop and will also be directly linked on YouTube very soon. These are digital products, affiliate products and classic services.

Comprehensive WLAN coverage is mandatory

A basic requirement is WLAN coverage, i.e. that you have a WLAN connection throughout your camp. Especially if you use rolling picking, but also for inventory in the aisles, a WLAN connection is required for JTL-WMS Mobile. No blanket recommendation can be made here. Each bearing is designed differently, consists of different materials, which can be aggravating or favorable for WLAN reception. So here it is worthwhile to bring a specialist into the camp and based on the measurement results, to purchase the recommended hardware. But what we can give you a concrete recommendation for is the MDE device. The so-called mobile data capture devices are used to enter or scan products in order to record and process data in a time-efficient manner. Of course, the entire cabling of the IT technology must also be correct, apart from the mobile end devices.

JTL-WMS Starter Pack - The MDE devices

As a starter recommendation, we can recommend the Sunmi L2s. In terms of handling, it is like a smartphone, it is very robustly built for the tough everyday warehouse life, works with Android and has the scanner directly integrated. A good all-rounder solution for data processing. The Android smartphone offers even easier handling, at least if you already use it as your smartphone OS. A highly recommended option here would be the Samsung Galaxy S5. You can easily replace the battery and the performance is even better than that of most MDE devices. That means you download JTL-WMS Mobile, attach the device to your wrist and now you only need a finger scanner.

The PC, monitor and scanner

For this purpose, e.g. the Eyoyo 2D scanner. For the packing table you also need a PC and monitor. For the PC, it is important to note that it runs fanless, as it should be able to withstand dusty environments. It doesn’t have to be a high-performance workhorse. For example, an i5 with 8 Gb RAM and a fast hard drive is sufficient for local use of JTL-WMS. If you use a cloud solution, the CPU requirements are even lower and you can save money. You can find a possible recommendation for the calculator in our store. No monitor, no picture – that’s why the monitor has to be touch-operable, even in winter when wearing gloves. A possible solution for this would be the 24-inch Acer UT241Y. With a Full HD resolution and a nice size, this one is perfect for the warehouse. To further complement the packing table, we need a scanner. A wireless solution could be the Newland HR3280 Marlin II. A cheaper solution could be an Inateck scanner, which can also be purchased wirelessly for as little as €60 and are an ideal option for startups. Here you have to see what your requirements are, because the price range is from 20 – 500€. If you have any questions, please contact eBakery as a JTL service partner. JTL-WMS Starter Pack - Only one printer or several different ones?

That means we now have the PC, the monitor and the scanner. What is missing is a printer. If you want to choose the cheapest option, which is not automatically the most time-efficient, you can use any A4 printer. You can find a possible printer for this in our store.
It is not necessarily time-efficient because labels still have to be cut to size. For a label printer solution, the classic would be the Zebra GK420-D. A battery-powered solution, on the other hand, would be the ZD220d. However, these labels would be too large and, in the long run, too expensive to use for storage bin labeling. Instead, we recommend the Dymo 450 Labelwriter Turbo for this purpose. However, when buying labels, make sure to use “matte”, since glossy paper often prevents scanning due to reflections.

The parcel scale

Last but not least, of course, we need to make sure that the correct weight is specified with our shipping service provider. Therefore, we recommend as an entry-level solution the PCE-PB 60N package scale. This can be coupled via USB with JTL-WMS, is designed for loads up to 60Kg and should not exceed your budget.

This is the JTL-WMS Starter Pack

This would give us our basic equipment to be able to use JTL-WMS in our warehouse.
The next episode will be about the Advanced equipment.
