How to configure the JTL software warehouse management system

Have JTL-WMS set up - The Warehouse Management System from JTL Software
What is the warehouse management system from JTL-Software and how it differs from the JTL-Wawi extension Packtisch+, you can read in our blog. It would be important to know in advance that JTL-WMS is based on the principle of chaotic warehousing. This means that the warehouse employee can select any storage location during putaway. This means that the articles are not filed according to a fixed order system.
Have JTL WMS set up - The advantages
This has several advantages. Of course, this makes storage faster and enables optimized removal from storage, also, it is easier to create different picking zones when picking, as the probability of each item being in each zone is much greater with chaotic warehousing. This means that different pick lists no longer need to be merged afterwards. This is especially a great advantage in rolling order picking. Stephan Handke explains in the video which other picking options are available to you.
The preparations
In preparation, your warehouse must already be created in JTL-Wawi. To do this, open JTL-Wawi and in the Warehouse menu go to Create warehouse. Here you have to enter your important parameters and click on create. It is important for you to note that in the drop-down menu for “Type of warehouse” you must have selected WMS Warehouse. Which then looks like this. After that you will be asked if you want to use the JTL WMS setup wizard. Answer in the affirmative and it will open. First enter the abbreviation for your camp here. In the next step, enter the contact person’s data and the warehouse address. The street, postal code and city are mandatory fields. In step 3, the storage dimensions follow, i.e. how the storage will be structured and thus also how the storage bins in your storage should be designated.
EazyShipping is included free of charge with JTL-WMS
In step 4, the shipping process just mentioned must be selected. EazyShipping is included free of charge with JTL-WMS. The other two options are modules that must first be activated. We choose eazyshipping for us and would now like to explain the configuration options that appear in the next step. With the maximum number, you can specify the maximum number of products that should be on a pick list. The value should be chosen so that the picking cart used is not overfilled.If the next option is enabled, orders can be packed with exactly one item and with one scan. The second checkmark field activates that the Direct packing option does not apply for shipping types with mandatory weighing.
Have JTL WMS set up - this is how it works
By activating the option “Activate packing with one scan”, a quantity field is additionally displayed with EazyShipping. Instead of scanning an item more than once, the quantity can now be entered in this field before scanning the item. Allow packing directly from goods receipt means that in JTL-WMS in the standard goods receipt and in the free goods receipt it is checked for each item whether it occurs in an order with exactly one item. If this is the case, the EazyShipping dialog is called directly and the item can be packed directly. If you work with mobile devices check this field. In the main part you can choose how to deal with lore. Allow, allow with demand only, or do not allow.
Complete JTL WMS setup
In the lower field you can define if and under which category new articles can be created in the free goods receipt. With this, articles that do not yet exist in JTL-Wawi can be directly included and collected in JTL-WMS. The identification and maintenance of the complete article data takes place later in JTL-Wawi via the set category. We omit the next step, since the MHD/Batches/Serial Numbers module must be activated as a prerequisite. This will complete the setup and you can click Finish.
