A warehouse is not exactly the ideal location for a computer. High dust loads and temperature fluctuations quickly make simple desktop computers look old and they become high-maintenance problem children. Especially with computer-aided shipping, such as with JTL-WMS or JTL-Packtisch, you need systems that are optimally adapted to the difficult conditions. Devices from the discount store around the corner are probably not the right choice here.

Fanless systems without openings are best suited as computers. Safe from dust and other environmental influences, the technology can do its work there in peace. Such systems are now even available with powerful Intel Core i5 processors and 8 GB RAM. A 256 GB HDD in such a system is completely sufficient for a warehouse workstation. Except for the operating system and a handful of applications should not be installed on it either. Robust touchscreen monitors in the sizes 17 or 19 inches are best suited as monitors. To make the packing table complete, a barcode scanner is still needed to scan the barcodes. Whether wired or wireless depends on the size of the goods and the local conditions. In terms of price, the difference is now zero. Finally, a laser printer that is as fast as possible is needed to print the shipping documents directly at the packing table. Here you should make sure that such a device can print at least up to 30 pages per minute. Here you should proceed according to the motto the faster the better.

If you only look at the acquisition costs when choosing the hardware for your JTL packing table, you are saving at the wrong end. It’s better to spend a bit more money here and get a stable system in the long run than to constantly replace fans. Waiting unnecessarily for documents when the printer is a bit slower again also costs money on the bottom line. Your employees are not productive during this time and the goods may remain in the warehouse for a day longer.
