JTL-Wawi is a free enterprise resource planning system.
What is behind this is the thought that everything that has to do with the products of JTL software must be cheap. This thinking is going in the wrong direction. Here we are trying to create a unique and high-quality solution for small and medium-sized companies. Statements like the one quoted above unfortunately reflect the view of many customers and service partners.
But quality has its price and good work is not cheap. Successfully implementing an enterprise resource planning system in a company does not end with installing the software on the computers, connecting printers and other peripherals, setting up users, print templates and synchronization with marketplaces and web stores.
Merchandise management systems are complex software solutions whose primary goal is to map retail processes in a way that is as computer-controlled as possible. And to do that, you first and foremost have to know and understand the processes in retail and in mail order in particular. Almost anyone can install the Wawi, that much is clear. But how many customers are left out in the cold by their IT consultants with a half-finished solution, who then call me afterwards and say dryly: “Can you still extend my JTL database?” – “How is the 1.0 already on the market?” No, the poor guy had the Wawi set up by someone who obviously had no idea and certainly not about the Warehouse Management System.
Good Wawi consulting costs money and can be really expensive. And this is not about making some artwork pretty for the customer. This has nothing to do with consulting. The aim here is to get the most out of the Wawi for the customer and to design his processes in such a way that he can act quickly and successfully on the market.
I realize that not every kiosk owner who uses Wawi and maybe LS-POS has the money to pay a management consultant to get his store up and running. The last one to bite is the dog, as the saying goes. But it is precisely this customer who has the right to proper self-help documentation. Just throwing him in at the deep end and thinking he can handle it on his own is the wrong approach. This customer could be the boss of a kiosk chain tomorrow and then just not rely on the free merchandise management of JTL-Wawi.
