JTL Shop 5 Customize Footer
How to design your footer in the online store
In the JTL store 5 footer to place the offered payment methods as logos is the concern of many online merchants. Therefore, in this JTl-Shop Screencast we deal with this very topic and show you what to pay attention to especially with the logos in terms of images SEO, but also under which menu item you will find the setting options of the footer.
In this menu item you can edit the JTL-Shop 5 Footer
To edit the JTL-Shop 5 footer according to your needs, go to the JTL-Shop backend.
The setting options for the footer can be found under Appearances -> Standard Elements -> Footer / Boxes.
Then scroll all the way to the bottom. To create a new box in the footer area, select a box type – in our case a“custom box with frame” – that is, with a heading and add it. Then the sort order can be selected in the respective box column to determine where this box should be placed in the footer. However, we were satisfied with the position and therefore did not change anything. However, it is advisable to work in steps of 10, because then you can easily put a box in between, should you have forgotten it.
Pay attention to the file size of logos to improve the PageSpeed
To edit the box we click on the edit icon and can use it to customize the content. For this JTL store tutorial we have taken care of the payment methods, which in most cases consist not only of text, but rather of logo images. There are several things we could be doing wrong. If we upload the images in high-resolution original size, they can be adjusted using CSS code, but they still keep their file size. Since we have already learned in this blog that large file sizes are not exactly beneficial for PageSpeed and thus for our SEO, we should consider an alternative.

That’s why it’s a good idea to create a 90 x 50 px file with a white background in Photoshop, into which you add and transform all the logos. This will ensure a small file size, a consistent page length and the correct naming of your files. We thereby achieve not only visual uniformity, but also search engine optimization.
So we uploaded the logos by going to the image icon, searching for our image on the server and then pressing Ok.
Here you can then additionally work with the Alternative Text, which is also SEO relevant. If you save the whole thing like this, the logos will be visible, but most likely stuck to each other, which doesn’t really look nice. Therefore we have adapted the source code and added this section under Style.
