At the end of October JTL-Software announced the open beta phase of JTL-Wawi 1.6. After the closed beta has already been started by pilot customers, for which we have also published a whole series of videos. If you missed it, we will link you to the playlist. But in this video we want to clarify where you can get the installation files for 1.6 and what you do with them. So if you want to actively participate in the Open Beta phase yourself, now is the best time and this video is the best tool. Therefore, look to the end and with that we also start.
The system requirements
Before downloading, you should first of all take a look at the checklist for the migration and go through it. This includes the system requirements – i.e. that your OS has a .NET Framework of at least 4.8, in the best case MS SQL 2019 is installed and should you have the Store system from JTL then this version should not be older than 4.06. Furthermore, the third-party compatibility should be checked. So if you have e.g. works with external cash register systems. However, if you want to be on the safe side and at the same time take the path of least resistance, then have the whole thing checked and carried out by a service partner. If you have checked all this and are now determined to participate in the Open Beta phase, then the appropriate URL is: “jtl-software.com/jtl-wawi-download#open-beta-release”. Here you can simply download the Wawi. Currently it is the 1.6.31.2 version. The whole thing comes as a usual Windows installer file, so with the extension “.exe”. Mac users must therefore continue to take the detour via a server and RDP or via a virtual machine.
JTL-Wawi 1.6 Installation
Once you have downloaded the file and transferred it to your server, open it as administrator. Then the setup wizard should open for you as well. Click on “Next” in the first step. Now you have to read and accept the license agreement. Now in the third step you need to create or find a suitable folder. We have created a new one explicitly for this installation. Now just select the start menu shortcut and finally install the whole thing. This may take a small moment. Once this installation is complete, you can decide whether JTL-Wawi should be started directly or not. We want that, so the hook stays in. And as we can see we are shown the brand new 1.6.31.2. By default is “pass”. How to change this, you can see in our create user blog. You can now also set the language to English. If you have not yet created a database or have already created one, but it is not yet connected, then I recommend the “JTL-Wawi setup” video.
