Shopware 5 JTL-Connector ends soon

What to do now?

With the end of support for Shopware 5, support for the JTL connector will also end. The deadline is 31.07.2024, so it’s time to act now! We will show you two alternatives to make your Shopware 5 store future-proof.

Shopware 5 support ends at the end of July

Now to the actual problem. Support for Shopware 5 will be discontinued on 31.07.2024. We had already informed you about this well in advance and showed you an alternative with our Shopware 5 to 6 migration video. However, this not only means the end of support for Shopware 5, but also the discontinuation of the Shopware 5 Connector from JTL. First of all, this means that there is an urgent need for action for all Shopware 5 retailers, whether they use the Wawi or not. Two obvious alternatives would be to migrate to Shopware 6 or to migrate directly to JTL Shop 5.
But what exactly are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

Shopware 5 JTL-Connector ends soon - Alternative #1

With Shopware 6 you would have a modern and future-oriented store system with a responsive design and optimal user experience. Shopware is considered one of the best performing store systems on the market, which means that if you plan to scale up in the future, the Shopware 6 option hardly sets any limits. There are also different price models depending on the scope and support required. From the Rise Plan, which starts at €600 per month, to the fully comprehensive Beyond Plan, where you can enjoy the full range of AI features, workflow and automation features up to 3-star support. You can now use all 3 plans either self-hosted or in the cloud. This means you have a modern system that is being actively developed and kept up to date with regular updates. What you need to be aware of, however, is that regardless of whether you choose Shopware 6 or JTL Shop 5, you will have to expect a migration instead of an update.

What is an update?

The difference is that an update still has the same basis as its core. This means that minor improvements are made and bugs are fixed. During a migration, the existing data is integrated into a completely new system and existing store pages, for example, are migrated. in the new system as similar as possible. One example is the conversion of shopping worlds into experience worlds. The technology behind them is completely different, which is why they cannot simply be transferred 1:1.

What is migration?

A migration therefore requires a very precise check as to whether the system requirements are met, i.e. whether the operating system is compatible, whether there is enough storage capacity, whether the system is fast enough, etc. It is therefore advisable to work with a Shopware partner at this point in order to get everything right from the start. At eBakery, this is exactly what we specialize in. So if you are planning a change, it is best to let us know in good time so that the system requirements mentioned above can be checked before the migration. Shopware 5 JTL-Connector ends soon - Alternative #2

But Shopware 6 would not be the only option available to you. The JTL store system offers seamless integration between the store and merchandise management. Because the Wawi is virtually essential to be able to use JTL-Shop 5. This means that you would also be equipped for the future, as no connector is required. Furthermore, you would continue to work with a system you are familiar with if you have been using the Shopware 5 Connector up to now. The article, customer, warehouse and order data are still managed via JTL-Wawi. This also saves you the time and expense of familiarizing yourself with a new system. Another advantage of JTL is the huge community. There is the JTL User Community group on Facebook, as well as the official JTL group and the JTL forum, where retailers, service partners and JTL employees can help with problems. JTL also offers its own customer support as well as a broad network of service partners.

This is how much JTL-Shop 5 costs

In terms of price, you could also use and test JTL-Shop 5 for up to 500 items free of charge. If your product range exceeds the 500 item mark, the store costs €599, which includes 12 months of support and an unlimited number of products. An extension of the subscription for a further 12 months costs a further €299. The subscription then includes updates and basic support. So if you are more interested in migrating from Shopware 5 to JTL Shop 5, we can also help you as a JTL service partner.

Shopware 5 JTL-Connector ends soon - What you need to know in advance

In summary, this means you need to check 4 things in advance.

1. what specific requirements does your current Shopware 5 store need? Can all elements e.g. are displayed like this in JTL-Shop 5.
