Shopware Publisher

Edit worlds of experience as a design with several employees at the same time

The Shopware Publisher allows you to edit experience worlds that are already live as a draft. You can create as many drafts as you like and have several employees work on them at the same time. Watch the video to find out how to do this and what the requirements are.

What is the Shopware Publisher?

But before we go into the backend, a little information about what the publisher is. This helps you as an online store operator and your team to work collaboratively.
This means the sales, design and marketing team, for example. to bring them into harmony. One approach to achieving this is the design function. This feature makes it possible to edit existing Live Pages and save them as a draft. This allows you to make and present changes without them being visible live. It also allows you to edit simultaneously, i.e. several employees can work on one page at the same time. Several drafts can also be created.

The requirements

But what requirements must be met?
The Publisher is included in the Shopware 6 Evolve plan by default. Once you have purchased this, all you have to do is go to “Extensions” and “My extensions” in your backend and you should find the publisher here. To activate this, click on the toggle switch. Now you can take advantage of this in the adventure worlds. To present these, let’s take a look at our homepage. You can see that this is a live page by the fact that there is no “Draft” notice in the top left-hand corner. You will see this in a moment.

Shopware Publisher - What's changing

What has also changed after activating the Publisher is the blue save button. An arrow can now be seen next to it. If you click on it, you will be given the option to save the page as a new draft. However, this only makes sense once you have made changes to the live page.
Once these have been completed, click on “Save new draft” and change the name of this draft if necessary in order to be able to identify it later.

This lets you know that you are working in a design

The “Draft” label just mentioned is now also visible. So now you know that you are working in the draft and no longer in the live page.
This also shows that you can no longer save this as a draft, but can only publish the draft as a live version. If you want to save changes within the draft, simply click on the button next to the arrow.

Shopware Publisher - Edit draft

Let’s go back to the overview of our worlds of experience. What has now changed is the additional option “Draft” on our start page. If you now want to access the live page, click directly on the tile. If you want to edit the draft, click on “Draft” and all your drafts will be displayed in this overview. You can see whether a page has been worked on or changed again by this number here. This indicates how many changes there are in this layout. So if the number has increased compared to the previous day, you can click on the tile and the publisher will now have a history button here in the right-hand column. This history shows you which user has made which changes.

Another practical feature is that the right-hand column interacts with the main window. If you hover over the respective changes with the cursor, the block to which these changes were made is also displayed visually in the middle area.
