The people who are already active in the JTL Software User Community group on Facebook will have already noticed. The JTL-Wawi 1.7 version has now been released as a stable version. It can be downloaded as usual at jtl-software.de/jtl-wawi-download. What to consider during the installation, you can see in this video. But the most frequently asked question was probably: What is new now? That’s what we want to show you in this article.
The most important features in JTL-Wawi 1.7 2023 - JTL-Wawi App and Production Tool
In essence, the main changes, the completely new tool JTL-Plan&Produce, with which the production can now also be covered and the new JTL-Wawi app, which we will then bring you closer in the next video. JTL-Plan&Produce in itself, is a manufacturing and finishing module within JTL-Wawi 1.7, which in turn works closely with JTL-Workbench. JTL Workbench, in turn, is an assistance system that guides employees step by step through production with visual instructions and guidance. Plan&Produce supports you not only in the planning, but also in the execution. To get a rough overview of how manufacturing can work, I’ll take the example of JTL itself.
Plan & Produce practical example
First of all, all necessary articles must be created in JTL-Wawi. In this example, it is the ingredients for rolls. But it can also be screws for a car, ingredients for a protein shake or individual parts for a toothpaste. JTL has worked with many different pilot customers, so the production tool is also suitable for many different industries such as medical technology, nutritional supplements, as well as custom printable t-shirts.

In addition to the ingredients, the resulting product must also be created as an article, i.e. the roll in our case. In step 2, the respective work steps in the production area must then be defined. However, there is once again a terminological distinction here. Because here we are first shown the operations. These consist of the number as if this operation comes first, second, third, etc. and the designation. Within this operation, are then included the necessary steps. In our example, the operation would be “prepare yeast”, the necessary operation would then be to mix water and yeast. A precise description can be written for the work step and images can be added, which are then also transferred to JTL Workbench and displayed to the employee. Any number of additional steps can also be added here.
The most important features in JTL-Wawi 1.7 2023 - JTL-Workbench
Once you have created all the ingredients and production steps, they will be combined into one production item. The production BOMs are then contained within this production article. Again, you can create as many production BOMs as you like. Within a version, the operations are then listed with the corresponding articles that are needed for this operation. So now you can define the quantities here. The only thing you have to consider here is the reference lot size. For which quantity this information is given. If an order comes in, it will be displayed directly in JTL Workbench. In the MRP production menu, the order is displayed to us. This we can now produce. The solution size is virtually the quantity of rolls that can be produced as a closed batch, i.e. lot. This was defined as 100 in the Wawi. So 100 rolls fit in the oven. So for a total quantity of 10000 I have to repeat this process 10 times. This number of 10 is given as the number of lots. Now we are shown each individual step. Once we have added the specified amount of this ingredient, we can press the green plus. Clicking on “Next” will take us to the next step. If this button is grayed out at some point, the operation is complete and we can go to the next gear by clicking “Confirm”. Once all operations are completed, this batch can be closed. With a click on Ok this stock will then be booked in. In Wawi, the stock has now been increased from 100 to 200.
JTL-Plan&Produce and JTL-WMS combined
But JTL-Plan&Produce does not only fit seamlessly into JTL-Wawi, the new tool can also be connected with JTL-WMS of the warehouse management. To this end, they say:
For every production process it is essential to know the current material stock. That’s why we’ve created clever ways in JTL Workbench to make it easy for you to keep track of everything. For example, use EAN128 barcode scanning to find out in seconds where a production item or component is stored. You can also quickly replenish your production material with a replenishment order.
But now we come to the price. Plan & Produce is included in JTL-Wawi 1.7, which you can download for free. Only the Workbench costs you 125€ per month per user. But you can also test them for free for at least 14 days. The requirement is that you use at least JTL-Wawi 1.7.4.1. If several employees want to access JTL Workbench simultaneously on different devices, additional licenses can be purchased in the customer center. Extensions for this are the MRP production and order-related production, which must be booked in addition.
