Upgrade JTL-Shop 4 to JTL-Shop 5 - The 5 version
JTL-Shop 5 has been available to the general public for quite some time now and is very popular. Especially features like the OnPage Composer, but also the overall responsiveness are convincing. But to use it you have to get to it first and I’m not talking about the financial hurdles, because up to 500 items you can use it for free. But what if a JTL store 4 already exists and you want to upgrade. You can find out which options are available and what to look out for in the video above or in this article.

First of all, it must be clarified that JTL distinguishes between the major version, minor version and the patch version. So a major version upgrade would be an upgrade from JTL store 4 to 5. A minor version update would be if the 5.0 version would be changed to 5.1. If you update it to 5.1.1 it would be a patch update. Depending on the update or upgrade, different requirements may arise. Basically, however, it can be said that the minimum requirements must first be met.
The minimum requirements
So at least an installed JTL store 4.02 version, a Wawi 1.0 version, a 64-bit Apache web server. By the way, you don’t have to worry about the licensing, it will be taken care of by the 4er Shop. What you should check beforehand are the plugins, payment methods and export formats. These are not always necessarily supported. In the same way, you should always make a backup of your store, because better safe than sorry. The upgrade process itself consists of 5 steps, preparation, update, database update, elimination of orphaned data and post-processing. Upgrading JTL Shop 4 to JTL Shop 5 - The Follow-up
Whether the store works properly shows you the error diagnosis at Administration > Troubleshooting > Diagn osis but nothing beats a good eye. So check out your store for yourself and see if everything is there. Furthermore, check your individual template. If this is not up to date, we at eBakery can help you as a JTL service partner.
