Delete WhatsApp messages after 90 days

The new feature 2021 in Messenger

Delete WhatsApp messages after 90 days?
Why you want to do that and how to do it with WhatsApp, we show in this tutorial. The new WhatsApp feature under the microscope.

Delete WhatsApp messages after 90 days - The new feature

WhatsApp is always in the news. Whether it’s about privacy, the terms of use or new updates. Now a new feature is added. For some time now, you have been able to turn on self-deleting messages in individual chats or groups. If this feature is enabled, then the sent messages will remain in the chat for 7 days, after which they will be automatically deleted. But this can also lead to problems. For example, if you have discussed or planned something via WhatsApp and you want to check these things again after a few days, the messages may no longer be there. WhatsApp itself has now decided that 7 days is too short a period for some users. For this reason, they now plan to offer multiple time periods to choose from.

Do users have any interest at all?

Users will soon be able to choose between three different time periods. You can then choose between 24 hours, 7 days and 90 days. The choice can then be made in the app’s settings. But why would users want to delete old messages in the first place? Because there seems to be rather an interest from many users not to lose older chat histories. It has only been possible to export WhatsApp chats from an iPhone to an Android device for some time now. This function is used when users switch smartphones.
Therefore, it makes sense to ask the question whether users are at all interested in messages deleting themselves.

Delete WhatsApp messages after 90 days - The advantages

The answer to this is: under certain circumstances, it makes sense for certain messages to delete themselves from the history. For example, if you send sensitive information via WhatsApp, then self-deletion is a feature that gives users more security. If, for example, you share your bank information or certain access data via WhatsApp, then it can make perfect sense if these are automatically deleted after a certain period of time.
Nevertheless, you should not rely on WhatsApp’s function alone. For example, images can also be saved or screenshotted on the other user’s device. Therefore, be careful with your personal data and information despite the new feature. Deleting messages can also be very helpful in freeing up storage space.
