eBakery JTL Software Wiki

In the last 4 episodes we have already explained the necessity of the JTL Customer Center and showed you how to create a new account there.
Then we went through the individual JTL products chronologically, from merchandise management, to the marketplace connection module eazyAuction, to the cash register module JTL-POS. If you missed it, the corresponding playlist is linked here. For this episode, as you probably already guessed from the title, we’re going to focus on the shipping modules. This time very clear, only JTL-ShippingLabels and Track & Trace. This module saves you from going to the post office or ordering stamps.

What is JTL Shipping? - JTL ShippingLabels explained

Because JTL-ShippingLabels is an interface between JTL-Wawi and your logistics provider. This allows shipping and even returns labels to be printed automatically. Not only standard parcel shipping is supported, but also express shipping, registered mail and many others. Supported interfaces include DHL and DHL Express, Deutsche Post, DPD, UPS, Hermes and all other logistics providers seen here.
The good thing about it – JTL-ShippingLabels is completely free of charge, the license only needs to be booked in the customer center. In order to be able to classify JTL-ShippingLabels in the hierarchical cotext of the JTL products, we have here once again an informative overview. The main category, which is on par with JTL-Wawi, JTL-POS and JTL-eazyAuction, is called JTL-Shipping and is the umbrella term for logistics solutions from JTL. The three shipping modules JTL-Shipping, JTL-Track&Trace and JTL-AddressCheck are assigned to this. The latter is still in the planning stage.

JTL ShippingLabels Summary

That means in summary – JTL-ShippingLabels is the module for automated shipping label printing, which has the just mentioned interfaces to the logistics providers, thus can print shipping and return labels automatically, but at the same time is also a prerequisite for the second module of shipment tracking, which we will now take a closer look at. This is JTL Track&Trace.

What is JTL Shipping? - JTL Track&Trace explained

By setting up JTLShippingLabels, there is already a connection between Wawi and the logistics provider. This interface is then also used for Track & Trace to obtain the tracking data. That’s why you need one for the other. The advantages of Track&Trace are probably obvious. You can see at an early stage if there are any problems in the shipping process so that you can inform your customers accordingly and avoid escalations. The current status can be viewed directly in JTL-Wawi in Shipping. There, shipments are divided into four categories – Created, On the Way, Train Created and Problem.

Purchase Track&Trace license in the customer center

This license can also be booked in the customer center, but this time it is subject to a fee. The basic requirement is that you are using JTL-Wawi version 1.5.15 or higher and have already set up JTL-ShippingLabels. How much this module will cost you per month depends on the number of packages sent per month. You don’t have to pay anything for up to 100 packages, but then 3 cents for each additional package in the 100 rate. This staggers up to 20,000 parcels, which then cost you 149.99€ for Track&Trace, but only 0.8 cents for each additional parcel. Again, there is a 14-day trial period, so you can see for yourself. As with every JTL product, the setup can again be booked in the customer center. However, we at eBakery are also happy to take care of this, as a JTL service partner.
