What is JTL-POS?

Connect Amazon and eBay with JTL-Wawi

In this JTL POS video, we explain how to link offline and online commerce. The cash register system from JTL-Software offers you the possibility to create a cash register from your Android device. You can see how this works in our screencast.

Our JTL Software Wiki

Our JTL software wiki is constantly expanding and with it we are also making progress in the JTL product presentation. Previously, we have already talked about the need for the Customer Center, as well as introduced JTL-Wawi and JTL-eazyAuction. If you missed it, we have linked the playlist for you here. In today’s blog, we’re going to take a look at JTL’s checkout system and take a closer look at its features and extensions. By the way, the POS in the JTL-POS product stands for Point of Sale – which in turn refers to all places where customers have direct contact with the goods, i.e. in a retail store or at a trade fair. This JTL product can also be found in the customer center and can be downloaded here. Some of you might wonder what the whole thing has to do with Android and the Google Play Store, so let’s first take a closer look at the question “What is JTL-POS”?

What is JTL-POS?

Indeed, here it then becomes clear that this is the mobile Android POS system for smartphones and tablets. This means that you will find the file to be downloaded in the Customer Center as well as in the Android App Store. JTL-POS can be used as a standalone solution, but can also be connected to your JTL ERP system with the additional module ERPConnected. The advantages of this include clear product range management and near-real-time data synchronization, with which the inventory is adjusted after a product has been sold in the store. In addition, this also makes it possible to use several cash registers via one system. The Android device with the software on it can then also be expanded with other gadgets such as receipt printers, scanners and cash drawers.
By the way, these can be found in the JTL store. But not only optional gadgets can be purchased here. In order not to get in the way of the tax office, the so-called TSE standard, i.e. technical safety equipment, should be adhered to. This is in turn defined by the KassenSichV or also known as the Kassensicherungsverordnung.

What is JTL-POS? - This means TSE compliant

This is to ensure an unalterable, tamper-proof record of all cash transactions. JTL offers the extension for this as the following TSE extension modules. Either via microSD, USB dongle, as a Fiscal upgrade kit in conjunction with the Epson TM-m30IIF or as a Fiscal Cloud TSE. Each solution has both advantages and disadvantages. For example, you have to make sure that your microSD devices do not already use Android 11, since this OS is not yet supported, while the cloud solution requires an online connection of the POS system. If you are not sure which solution is the best for your case, we at eBakery will be happy to help you as a JTL service partner.

This is how you can pay cashless

The bottom line, however, is that with these modules, the German Cash Register Security Ordinance is then also complied with. But how does it look if a customer would like to pay without cash? This is where the OPI module comes in. OPI stands for Open Payment Initiative and describes the interface between POS application and peripheral devices. This means that with this module you can add your own desired payment providers that are not yet included in JTL-POS. What else distinguishes our checkout system from the one we use in traditional retail, for example? Know in supermarkets?
Exactly – the display for the customer to show him the price, among other things. This can be implemented with JTL-POS CustomerDisplay. For this, you need another Android device that is on the same network.

What is JTL-POS? - The WebManager

Last but not least, the JTL-POS WebManager can be found in the JTL Customer Center. This not only allows you to manage stores, receipts and valuations, but also includes the “Digital Receipt” module. This generates a QR code, which the customer then sees displayed on the second tablet and can scan with his smartphone. With this, he can have the receipt sent to him by e-mail or he can download it directly. In addition, there is the possibility to anonymously rate the purchase and enter a Google review. This is on the one hand sustainable because of the paper savings and on the other hand beneficial for yourself as a retailer. The interface itself looks like this: in the WebManager itself you can see your receipt archive, see the ratings, manage your stores and easily customize your receipt design.
Overall, JTL-POS is the ideal solution for omnichannel merchants who have already maintained their assortment in JTL-Wawi and sell online, but still have a retail store and now want to combine the two.
