How to move the server in no time at all

How to export JTL-Wawi and how time-consuming it can be, you will learn in this video. In addition, Andreas Bezuh explains the migration service of the company ecomDATA, with which you can transfer JTL Wawi carefree.

JTL-Wawi and ecomDATA

You use JTL-Wawi and want to create and export a database backup? JTL-Wawi is the free merchandise management system from JTL, from which you can centrally control all sales channels and business processes. ecomDATA is an expert in hosting and JTL and finds solutions for every server problem. For example, your JTL ERP was stored or hosted locally and you want to export the database and import it to another location? There are several ways to do this.

Migration service

First and foremost, of course, it is always possible to have a professional partner like ecomDATA handle the entire process for you. This is especially advantageous if you don’t have much time to deal with complicated technology and would rather concentrate on your core business. After all, you are first and foremost an online retailer and will have to deal with business processes around sales. Besides, an expert, thanks to many years of experience and many employees, usually does something like this pretty quickly. For example, ecomDATA offers a migration service. This takes care of the entire process, including database export as well as import and help with setup on the customer’s PC/MAC.

Duration

For you, this means that you can continue working normally while experts solve your problem. The duration depends on your internet connection and how fast it is. The better your internet connection is, the faster ecomDATA can transfer your data. Generally, however, the import takes just 15 to 30 minutes. When exporting, it again depends on your server, but the process doesn’t take long either.

Different options for export/import

Do you want to export/import the database yourself? Maybe you have gathered enough knowledge or want to acquire it? Then you have two choices. First of all, you can solve this directly via JTL-Wawi. In the database management of JTL-Wawi there is a function with which you can create a backup of the database. So you can export the database, because creating a backup is basically the same as exporting a file. The second option available to you is to manage the whole thing through MSSQL Management Studio. Here you always have the possibility to create a backup directly and to zip the file as well.

No need to upgrade SQL

If you are interested in the second option, you don’t have to worry about whether your SQL version needs an upgrade. For example, if you use SQL Server 2008 Express, the export of the database will also take place in this version. The database is then transferred to ecomDATA. As already mentioned, you can do this step yourself or ecomDATA will do it for you. Even if ecomDATA uses a newer version than you, no problems will arise. The import then simply takes place in the new system. As you can see, moving your database is done quickly. You just have to decide whether to leave this step to an expert or dare to do it yourself.
