JTL-Shop SEO – Create and optimize landing pages in JTL-Shop

JTL-Shop SEO means the optimization of your online store for search engines like Google, Bing and Co. One way to increase your visibility in search engines is to build landing pages. How to set them up with the built-in content management function in the JTL store and optimize them for Google, you can learn in our JTL SEO Screencast or below the video.

Build landing pages in the JTL store to increase leads and conversions

Landing pages are a proven marketing tool to drive leads or conversions. They are designed and optimized for this purpose and can, for example. be made with so-called content management tools like WordPress. But landing pages can also be set up in your JTL store, let’s take a look at how this works.

To do this, let’s go to the backend. Here we click on the Contents tab. Under Custom Pages we can find our already created link groups, which look like this in the frontend.

That is, we have here the main link group “Information with the subcategories We about us, Payment options, etc.
These then look like this in the backend.

JTL store SEO optimization through landing page creation – this is how!

We can either create a new link group here, which will then be displayed third in the footer, or subordinate our landing page to the Information link group, which is what we will do now. I have already created a test page for this. If you want to create a completely new page, just click on Add page. In our case, click on the edit icon with the pencil in the square box and we are on the page where you can enter all the important data. Give your landing page a page name. Of course, this page should contain the generic term of your landing page topic. Up to the attribute Images you can leave everything on default settings for now, so you don’t have to change anything. Depending on the placement you want your landing page to have within the subcategories, you can adjust it using the sort number. Under Images you can save images to the database, which you can then integrate into your landing page. Everything else is self-explanatory at this point.

Create the basis for your ranking in the Meta/SEO area of your JTL store page

Let’s just get to the Meta/SEO department. All relevant data for Google, Bing and CO are entered here. The displayed name is ultimately the title that the link group should bear. The name for search engines is also the URL of your landing page. That means you enter “search engine name” here and get the URL at the end:

www.name-eures-shops.de/suchmaschinenname.

We remember back to the previous JTL SEO article, if you don’t know it yet, feel free to follow the link. In which was addressed that the URL SEO is also relevant. So bring the focus keyword of your loading page here as well. However, this requires that you have not clicked on “Link to external address” above. If this is the case, you must enter this external address here in the Search Engine Name column.

Meta data is one of the most important for your JTL store SEO

Also SEO relevant is the Meta Title and the Meta Description. How they have to look like, how many characters both are limited to and what else you should pay attention to is also included in the first JTL-WAWI SEO video.
Nevertheless, I’ll give you a little tip: It’s a good idea to use emojis in the meta description, because they draw more attention to your page in the SERPs than plain text would.

More attention in the SERPs through emojis

A common emoji that is used often and with pleasure is the white hook on a green background: ✅.
It should be said that this is not relevant for the Google algorithm, but for the potential customer in terms of the eye-catching effect.
Unfortunately, I do not have any data on whether the meta keywords are relevant in this case. But since these are also not played out in the category description in the meantime, I assume that they will not be google relevant here either. If you still want to enter them, go ahead.

JTL Shop SEO Basics

In any case, your main focus should be on the Meta Title, the Meta Description and the URL. Place your keywords here.
Below are a few SEO basics.
Only one H1 heading may exist. All others are either H2 or H3. If other subheadings contain your focus keyword use an H2. Do not contain it used H3 or H4. Bolding your keywords can be beneficial to you for influencing the Google bot. But do not overdo it. The number of times your focus keyword should be included in the text depends on the text length. However, too much of a good thing will be punished by Google. One way for you to find the right measure would be to use SEO tools like Yoast SEO in WordPress to check if your text is still in the frame.

Better ranking through internal links

Another proven way is to place internal links in your landing page. Simply highlight the word you want to link to, click on the link icon and enter the link. Your paragraphs should not exceed 300 words. That is, finds subheadings. At best, these should contain your focus keyword. But here, too, the dose makes the poison. If the main keyword is included in every headline, not only the reader finds it strange, but also Google itself.

Remember at this point: spam is never good.

Images SEO is at least as important

To make your landing page more interesting, you can also insert images. Here the JTL-Shop SEO optimization can take place by placing the search term in the file name as well as in the alt tag, i.e. the alternative text that is displayed when an image cannot be loaded.

Once you’ve done your creative work, integrated your text with subheadings and filled in your meta data, save the whole thing.
