JTL-Wawi 1.6 Unicode

Create articles / categories with Cyrillic letters

In this JTL-Wawi 1.6 tutorial we demonstrate that the ERP is now Unicode capable and thus supports the international standard character set. We will show you how to connect JTL-Shop 5 with JTL-Wawi 1.6, how to create an article with Cyrillic letters and how to transfer it.

JTL-Wawi 1.6 Unicode - International Standard for Characters

We are moving forward in our JTL-Wawi 1.6 video series. In the last video we already told you what’s new in the variation item creation and how you can now customize the child items. For those who missed it, here is the link to the blog again. In this episode we want to introduce you to the completely new feature in the broadest sense – compatibility with the Unicode standard. For all those who can not do anything with it a little digression. Unicode is an international standard in which a digital code is defined in the long term for every meaningful character or text element of all known writing cultures and character systems.

Connect JTL-Wawi 1.6 and JTL-Shop 5

This ultimately means that not only the letters of the Latin alphabet can be converted, but also the Cyrillic alphabet, but also Alphasyllabar fonts and many more can be implemented. We put this to the test in this video by creating a category and an item with Cyrillic letters and then transferring it to our JTL Shop 5 online store and see how the whole thing is displayed. In the course of this we can already show you how the connection of JTL-Shop 5 to JTL-Wawi 1.6 works. To do this, you need to go to “Platforms” and “Sales Channels” up here. Then you enter your domain, as well as your sync data, these are in the JTL store backend.

JTL-Wawi 1.6 Unicode - Create articles with Cyrillic letters

In the customer center your store domain must be linked with a license, whereby you receive a license key, which is then entered here. Afterwards you can click on “Test connection” and see if you have entered everything correctly. Save at the end. Now we want to create our Russian article. To do justice to it culturally, we plant “semeshki”, that is, sunflower seeds. In order to assign them to the right category, we create a new one and call it продовольствие which means “food”. The 7 years of Russian as a foreign language have paid off after all. Now we create the article in the category and pretty the whole thing up with a picture and then save it. What we can see now is that both the category and the article are displayed correctly in Cyrillic. You can do this with the 1.5er Wawi, there should be most likely now only question marks. Feel free to do so and write us the result in the comments. To make sure that our new category is also taken into account in the store comparison, we double-click on it and set the check mark here.

Perform online store matching in JTL-Wawi 1.6

Now we go to the new “Platforms” button and see the field for “Start matching” at the bottom right. There we click on it and select JTL-Shop. Now we see that both the category and our article have been transferred. If we now go to the store frontend and search for our article, we see that it has been transferred with correct Cyrillic letters. So the bottom line is JTL-Wawi 1.6 now complies with the Unicode standard.
