How to control your Shopware country store from JTL-Wawi

Controlling and managing your Shopware country store with JTL-Wawi – that’s what this article is about. If you prefer our video variant, you can watch how to create a Shopware subshop with an independent URL and then control it in JTL-Wawi. Otherwise, you can also follow the written step-by-step instructions under the video.

Before the Shopware store is connected set up domain pointer

Before we can get active in JTL-Wawi to connect our Shopware country store, we need to create a domain pointer of the subshop URL in our hosting panel to our main store beforehand. However, this process is different for each hosting provider, which is why we only point out that this process needs to be considered as the first step. However, we cannot provide a generally valid guide for this.

Create a new category in JTL-Wawi for your Shopware country store

Once you have completed the first step, go to JTL-Wawi and create a new category. You name them according to the language of your subshop.
In our case, “French.” Make sure that the check mark is set for your connected store so that this category is also taken into account in the store comparison.

We’ll do a store sync and head into our Shopware backend to verify that the new category is here as well. To do this, click on articles and categories. In the left column we see that our category French is present.

How to create a Shopware country store

To create a country store as a subshop for this in Shopware, go to Shop settings and Shops under Basic settings.. One of the differences and possibly advantages for you with a subshop compared to a language store is the independent URL. This can therefore also have an .en ending for the English store or .fr for the French store in the subshop. This means that you create trust with potential customers who live in France and come across your site for the first time. For the simple language store, the URL would not be standalone, it just has a different directory. So if we want to create a new Shopware country store as a subshop, we click on add and would now enter our data here and save it at the end. Here you can see what we have entered for the French subshop.

As you can see, the fields to be filled are either self-explanatory or individual. You create a subshop, the title should contain your language, the host and hostalias field your domain and the template fields your desired template.
At the end, save the whole thing and you should be able to see your Shopware country store with the name of the desired language in the main field.

Configures JTL-Wawi to be able to synchronize the item data with Shopware

So we can go back to JTL-Wawi and create a subcategory here with the French name for food. Reference is made to our main German store, which also has a subcategory called “Food”. If this is now done, we simply create an article as well for illustration purposes by clicking on Create Article and inserting the article description, as well as the remaining data including the image.

Of course, the whole thing is done in a hurry in our video tutorial and is anything but search engine optimized. However, if you want to know how to optimize both your articles and your images in JTL-Wawi for search engines, then you can take a look at our JTL-Wawi SEO or JTL-Wawi images SEO article.

How to synchronize the article data from JTL-Wawi to the Shopware Shop

Also, when creating your article, make sure that the check mark is set for your connected Shopware store, so that it is taken into account in the store comparison. Afterwards, perform this online store comparison and check in the Shopware frontend whether everything has been transferred to the subshop.
