Show stars and ratings from your JTL store in the Google SERPs

Use JTL Rich Snippets to draw more attention to your store in search results by displaying your reviews as stars or other product information next to the meta title and meta description. How this works for the JTL store, we show you in this video.

What are snippets?

Today we will talk about the search engine optimization of your online store – at least in the broadest sense. For those who don’t know what the term Rich Snippets means yet, here’s a brief explanation.
The search results of a search engine are called snippets. We can just search for “google” on Google.
Then you have here the SERPs in which the individual snippets are displayed. These exist here, for example from the URL, the Meta Title and the Meta Description.
It can look like that, but it doesn’t have to.

JTL Rich Snippets - What is it?

If you now simply enter e.g. “Amazon SEO” as a keyword, you will see a snippet where also the URL, meta title and meta description is displayed. However, there are still stars underneath, which indicate a certain rating. This extension of the normal snippet is called a rich snippet. This can be reviews, more information about a product or similar. These rich snippets of your store are generated within the HTML source code by assigning certain attributes depending on the respective category and are thus played out in the SERPs. To generate rich snippets, the various search engine operators have set a common standard, which can be viewed and applied at Schema.org. So much for the theory. We would like to show you an approach how you can do this for your JTL store.

Download JTL Rich Snippets Plugin

In order to not have to embed the code yourself as a merchant and end up breaking more than optimizing, there is a plugin for the JTL store called “Rich Snippets: Schema.org Markups“.
You can easily test it and then decide for yourself whether it suits you or not. You go to the corresponding NETZdinge subpage in the “Plugin Download” tab and download the file that suits you.
Once the download is complete go to your store backend.

Install NETZdinge plugin in JTL store

In the menu for plugins go to the plugin management and the tab “Upload“.
Select the file you just downloaded as it is, do not unzip it beforehand.
Then you should be able to install the plugin in the “Available” tab.
It causes a problem because you have to enter “demo” as the license key.
Then the Rich Snippet Plugin will also be found among the activated plugins and you get the possibility to go into the settings.
Now you can specify which data should be displayed in the SERPs and where in Schema.org adjustments should be made.
