Set JTL-Wawi customer categories

It can make sense to sort customers into different categories in JTL-Wawi for a variety of reasons. However, it is important to remember that categories, unlike groups, have no effect on prices or displays in the online store itself. For statistical reasons, however, categorization may well be advisable. In this way, interesting evaluations can be generated.

Update: This post from 08.11.2013 was updated on 02.06.2023.

Example case: ABC customer analysis

An example of this would be the ABC customer analysis: The ABC customer analysis is used to identify and classify customers according to their turnover. According to the Pareto distribution, this means for the customer evaluation that in the ideal case 20% of the customers (A-customers) already make 80% of the turnover, 30% of the customers (B-customers) provide 15% of the turnover and the remaining 50% of the customers (C-customers) have a turnover share of just 5%. This is also reflected in the distribution of wealth in a surprising way. Such an analysis cannot necessarily be applied to all industries, as it is not always possible to allocate sales to customers. In online mail order, this is possible because customers cannot shop anonymously.

According to the Pareto distribution, three categories are enough here to categorize customers according to your sales. It would also be conceivable to categorize by first contact as web store customer, eBay customer or direct contact. How you subdivide your customers is up to you. My choice would fall on the ABC customer categorization.
