Two German store systems in comparison

We take a closer look at JTL-Shop vs. Shopware in this online store comparison video. What are the advantages, but also the disadvantages of JTL Shop 5 and Shopware 6, you will learn in this online store tutorial.

Two German store systems in comparison - JTL-Shop vs. Shopware

A new episode, a new comparison and in some ways a premiere. Because in this video we compare two German store systems for the first time. Both even come from the same state, but which one has which advantages, we examine in this article.

General facts about both systems

Now for the facts. As already mentioned, both are from Germany. However, the market entry is a little different. JTL-Shop has been around since 2007, whereas Shopware has been providing its store system since 2004. The community of JTL is rather limited to the DACH region whereas Shopware is represented throughout Europe. Also Shopware partner agencies should be four times as much, however, we had already mentioned to you that there are very very many contact points for JTL, which includes its own forum, as well as the two JTL Facebook groups. So the lack of support probably won’t be the reason in the end. From our own experience and conversations, we also know that JTL works closely with the community to constantly improve their products and adapt them to the needs of merchants.

JTL Shop vs. Shopware - OnPage Composer vs. Experience Worlds

Especially the 5 version has made some steps forward. Which brings us to the direct system comparison. My personal opinion is that JTL Shop 5 and Shopware 6 are similar in some respects. The CMS is super fast to understand and intuitively built. With Shopware the experience worlds, with JTL the OnPage Composer. Elements can be dragged and dropped into the main window and thus a modern looking store page can be built in no time.

Both systems can be tested free of charge

Generally the backend is structured, you can find your way around and for both systems there is also a very well elaborated documentation, of course in German. And if the standards are not enough for you, there is the possibility to extend the store with extensions and plugins. For this we have a video in our JTL-Shop Playlist as well as in the Shopware Playlist. The good thing is that you can test both systems for free using the Community Edition.

JTL Shop vs. Shopware - Scale easily with the help of the Enterprise Edition

If you do want to expand, there are no limits with Shopware. Realize some things with the help of the Enterprise Edition, as you can see here. However, even for JTL store offers an Enterprise Edition. Which includes, among other things, fast telephone support. The experts at eBakery will be happy to explain to you what is included in each package and which system or plan is best suited to your project. You can find all information on our agency pages. By the way, both can be controlled with JTL-Wawi. For Shopware it is optional, but advantageous if you are aiming for a multichannel strategy. For JTL store it is mandatory to be able to transfer articles, categories and everything else.

JTL Shop vs. Shopware - A conclusion

So what can we say in summary now?
A clear recommendation to one or the other cannot be made here. With the 5 version of JTL has changed a lot. You also have the option to scale here. So in the end, it will be a very individual decision. Maybe the theme that Shopware offers suits you better or you can make things easier for your specific case with the Rule Builder or you say that you prefer to have Wawi and Shop from one forge and therefore prefer the JTL Shop. Here we can only give you the tip to look into our playlists to get a feeling for the system and the functions and if you then have a tendency, call us and get final advice.
