eBay Template for Shopware

Shopware is a popular online store platform that is modular, so it can be customized to meet your exact needs. Thanks to the modular structure, you only activate the processes and areas that you actually use. This makes the store performant and more secure, as unused parts are not activated in the first place. Getting started is free of charge and on the homepage you can download already prepared test packages and test them locally on your computer.
The good usability of Shopware is another aspect that makes the store system popular.

Plugin for eBay template

Since Shopware 5 does not offer eBay support out of the box, a plugin must be used here. The most popular plugin is magnalister. The plugin can be downloaded for free and supports eBay as well as many other national and international online marketplaces like Amazon, Google Shopping, Etsy, Rakuten, real.de or the METRO marketplace…. Moreover, it is well maintained and runs on all stable versions of Shopware 5.

Through magnalister, you can select which products you want to offer in multichannel distribution. magnalister then uploads the items to the desired marketplace – however, you should customize the default design. This is important for your customers to recognize you across all marketplaces and to stand out from the crowd. After all, the supplied design is automatically present with every installation.

In addition to the product upload to eBay and Co., magnalister offers a variety of other core functions that make life easier for you as a Shopware store operator and automate processes. These include:

  • ► Automatic price comparison
  • ► Inventory synchronization
  • ► Automatic order import
  • ► Matching of product variants and features
  • ► Order status comparison
  • ► Interface individualization

magnalister eBay Template

To be able to offer your items on eBay at all, the template must meet certain minimum requirements. It must be at least mobile-optimized and must not contain active content such as Java. In addition, it should be beautiful to look at, intuitively structured and, best of all, match your personal store design.

Your eBay auctions should look as much as possible as if the customer was in your online store. A uniform design is therefore very important, because it creates trust with the customer and reinforces the feel-good factor.

With magnalister come already free templates that you can customize. For this you should have HTML and CSS knowledge. With HTML the basic framework is built and texts are inserted, with CSS the whole thing is displayed vividly. The existing editor is built like Word, but to create really interesting and descriptive templates, you should be able to edit the source code of the files.

Edit magnalister eBay Template

Log into your Shopware backend and switch to the magnalister admin panel. Here you will find the “eBay (DE)” tab. Below you will find various map tabs. Switch to “Configuration”. Here on the right is the “Product Template” tab that will take us to our destination.

This product template is the template for all eBay auctions that you have posted through magnalister. You can edit it in this editor or, which gives you more possibilities, edit the source code using the corresponding button. However, the source code editor is not very nice. Therefore, edit the file in a good editor such as Notepad++ (Windows) or Atom (Mac OS). Both have syntax highlighting and therefore show you in color on the screen if you have forgotten a character or bracket somewhere. Especially with larger files this is very helpful.

After editing, copy the source code from the editor back to magnalister and click “Update”. You will then see a preview and can still make changes if necessary. If you like what you see, adopt the template and it’s ready to go.

Coolbax eBay item export

Another plugin that can help you submit your items to eBay is eBay item export by Coolbax. This is used to transfer the items from Shopware to eBay, but only in this direction. You also need at least an eBay Shop Basic. To import orders from eBay to Shopware you need another plugin “eBay Order Import“.

The eBay template is also very easily customizable here. After installing the plugin via the Shopware Community Store, the configuration opens automatically. If this is not the case, you can find the “Call settings” button at the bottom of the page:

The settings are CSS-based, which allows you to customize the color scheme and typeface. You can also include your logo, which is very important for a consistent corporate design. You can also include gallery images from your store and set the fade time, for example.

The setting options are therefore diverse and still easy to use. The risk of breaking something here is small. If you already have HTML and CSS knowledge, you can also copy the template folder “_default” and rename it. In the new folder, edit the files directly as you wish using a source code editor such as Notepad++. However, you should not change the files in the “_default” folder directly, as they may be overwritten when the plugin is updated. So you would have to start completely from scratch.

So make the changes either via the configuration interface or in your copy of the folder, then you are on the safe side.
