Create remarketing lists for Google Ads

Remarketing (or retargeting) is used, among other things, to target visitors to a company's own website. The ads within these remarketing campaigns can be customized accordingly and, for example, promote the content that the visitor has viewed.

For the remarketing campaign, you need to create the remarketing list in advance. Within Google Ads, you can find this option via “TOOLS AND SETTINGS”, “SHARED LIBRARY” and “TARGET GROUP MANAGEMENT”.

Now you can create remarketing lists here. However, we take a second route here, the one via Google Analytics. To create target groups here, you need to go to “ADMINISTRATION”, “PROBERTY”, “TARGET GROUP DEFINITION” and “TARGET GROUPS”.

Through Google Analytics, you can create remarketing audiences based on user behavior on your website or app. The target group lists via Google Analytics can be segmented more, so you have the option to:

If you have created the First Target Group here, the name of the target group and the validity period follow. The name under which the target group is displayed in Analytics and Google Ads.

Validity period is the period of time users stay in your remarketing list after interacting with your company – the maximum validity period is 540 days.

To use target groups from Google Analytics, Google Analytics and Google Ads must be linked. Finally, you can select the targets (Google Ads) so that you can use this audience for your remarketing campaigns in Google Ads.
