Partner and campaign marketing for Shopware 6

In this Shopware tutorial, we’ll show you how to use affiliate marketing with the Shopware Affiliate Partner and Campaign Marketing program to motivate your partners to recruit you through commissions.

Shopware Affiliate - What is it?

What exists for Shopify and was discussed in the last episode also exists for the German store system Shopware. We are talking about the affiliate. In case you missed it, here’s the link for you. We now turn to the so-called affiliate and campaign marketing for Shopware 6. What affiliate is we had already clarified. Summarized in one sentence, it is a type of distribution in which the provider offers commissions to its distributors in exchange for them selling its product.

How does Shopware Affiliate work?

In Shopware Partner Management, however, this does not originate from Shopware AG itself, but from the Shopware store system. This means that the system allows merchants to create individual affiliate links in order to give them to their distributors. But for a better understanding, let’s just apply that. A partner URL is not created in the backend, but is simply put together by you. This is composed as follows: Of course, first of all from your store URL, so for example. “http://www.sneakeria.de” then comes “/?affiliateCode=skr1”. The “skr1” is then the variable for us, based on letters from the brand “Sneakeria”. That means distributor 1 gets the code “skr1” / distributor 2 gets the code “skr2” and so on. Thus, each partner receives its own affiliate code.

This is what you should pay attention to

The only important thing is that the customer then actually registers via this URL. Only then will the code be visible in the customer overview. If an already registered customer orders something, the affiliate link is not displayed in the customer overview, but in the order overview. You as a dealer must pay attention to this or you as a partner must point it out. Before we look at how you can filter for the affiliate codes in the admin area of your Shopware store, we will discuss a second possibility, namely the campaign URLs.

What are campaign URL's?

These are more for advertisements. So you can create an individual link for a specific advertising campaign and can then see afterwards in the Shopware backend how many people were directed to the store by this campaign. The only difference in the creation of the link is that instead of “”/?affiliateCode=” now “/campaignCode=…” goes. The points would then be the code for this campaign, you can replace them as you wish. You can also combine the two. The whole thing would then look like this. Now a partner has convinced a customer who then bought something from you. But how can you as a trader understand this? To do this, let’s switch over to the Shopware backend and go to the overview in the customer area. The funnel icon at the far right edge symbolizes the filter function.

Filter by Shopware Affiliate Links

Here you can already see the first two items “Affiliate Code” and “Campaign Code”. Enter the one you want to filter for and you will be shown the corresponding customers, i.e. those who have ordered something using the code.
