How to migrate your Shopware store

How to update your active Shopware 5 store to Shopware 6 by transferring the data using the migration wizard is explained in this Shopware Screencast Tutorial. You can follow the step-by-step guide and implement this for your store directly.

You have seen our Shopware 6 playlist, but unfortunately you can’t implement the content of these videos yet, because you are still working on Shopware 5?
To overcome this hurdle, we explain in the video how to connect your Shopware 5 store with the new Shopware 6 store to be able to migrate the desired data afterwards.

Installs the migration wizards in both Shopware stores

To do this, you must first install the SwagMigrationConnector in the Shopware 5 store, which you can find under Configuration in your Plugin Manager. Just enter it and click on install. Then we go to our Shopware 6 store and find the migration wizard already in place. If this is not the case, it is also in the Shopware Store and can be easily downloaded.

Updating Shopware 5 to Shopware 6: How to set up the migration

To finally perform the migration, go to the Migration Wizard and click on creates a new connection. Give this a name that serves for you to recognize this connection. This is especially important if you have several stores. Otherwise, select your Shopware 5 version and for the implementation of this video API as an interface. To find out your API key, go back to the Shopware 5 store under Configuration on User Administration. Find your user, edit it and click on the checkmark field next to“Enable” in the API Access section if the API Access checkmark is not already set. Then you can copy your API key and paste it into Shopware 6. Enter the name of the API user and at the end your store domain.

In the data selection you decide which data you want to migrate from your connection to the Shopware 6 store. To do this, simply check the corresponding data to be migrated. After you click Start Migration , the migration will be performed in four steps. Data check, reading the data, writing the data and the media download. Now the data is read and transferred. So you have migrated your store data from Shopware 5 to your new Shopware 6 store.
