What are eBay Classifieds SEO Techniques? In contrast to eBay, you have significantly fewer adjusting screws here. But that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to optimize. How to sell successfully on eBay Classifieds using SEO techniques, you will learn in this video.
In order to sell your articles online, it does not always have to be an online store or marketplace in the classic sense. Sometimes classified ads online work amazingly well. One or the other will still remember the analogue Equivalent remember the classified ads in the supermarket or discount store. They still exist, but unfortunately these were then also overtaken by the much better functioning variant. A provider that you will probably also know is eBay Classifieds. What this is and how you can sell more successfully with simple SEO measures, you will learn in this episode.
First to the question “What is eBay Classifieds”. The short answer would be – the largest online classifieds portal in Germany. Since 2009, this portal already exists and is located in Kleinmachnow – which one or the other already knows from other reasons. However, we will not go into that in detail. eBay itself sold the portal to the Norwegian company Adevinta, in which eBay itself holds a 44% share. So much for the background, but how do you make your ad successful? First of all, we need to log in and click on “Post ad” in the main menu. Here we can already see that we do not have many adjusting screws to optimize our display. For us, this means using the parameters available to us efficiently. The thing about eBay Classifieds is that the title is your centerpiece. Because this is only displayed as the very first, but is also indexed for the search engine.
That is, place your keywords here and use the full length. Feel free to use hyphens or spaces for separation, but do not use commas. For the keywords themselves, we can’t give a blanket tip because they will be different for each industry. You have to be active and use the tools and possibilities that are available to you. One option for keyword research would be the Google Auto Suggest feature. This means that you enter a word or only the beginning of the word in the Google search and then get terms displayed that are often searched for. Make a list and use those exact terms in your title. Our second tip would be to do exactly the same thing, only in eBay Classifieds itself. Type the beginning of a word and write down the suggested terms. Our third tip would be to use Google Trends or Google Keyword Planner. Here you can enter your possible keywords, receive a performance report for them, but also suggest other possible well-performing keywords.
If you have now used these to form the title, we have the Pro Tip for you that will set you apart from an amateur. Do not place just one ad for your product, but several. This costs more time, but you will have several reference values. Either you bring in different images, change the order of the title or bring in new keywords. As mentioned at the beginning – we don’t have many approaches to optimization, so we have to maximize the ones we have. That’s why we proceed in the same way as you would place Facebook ads, for example. We set up several ads on a topic, each with at least one variance, and see which performs best at the end.
But let us continue. As far as we know, the description is not indexed by the eBay search engine, but it can be indexed by Google, so it is important to include keywords here as well. Nevertheless, the description should be used primarily to convey content. Therefore, the following timetable applies. It should be started with an introduction. Here comes in what kind of product it is. Then, compelling features can be implanted as bullet points underneath. This is more or less what the bullet points are at Amazon. References can be entered underneath. This can be done e.g. very well to place links to the store or the product video on YouTube. The ad should then be rounded off with a call-to-action at the end. So for example. “If you have any questions, contact …” or “If you are interested, send an email to…”. The potential customer must therefore be asked to do something. The price is also a mandatory field and should be specified specifically. The more information the customer already has, the more likely he is to show interest. This is true for the price but also for the pictures. However, if it does not work without a basis for negotiation, specify it. Another important point is the category, which you can also use as variance parameter. That is, if you create multiple ads think about whether this article could also be placed in a similar category that might bring more reach.
For the images, the size and file size optimization is less relevant than in your online store. But what is important is the naming of the file. Put your keywords here as well. Always write these in lower case and hyphenated. Photograph the products in landscape format, because they will be displayed that way in eBay Classifieds. If you use stock footage, at least edit it in Photoshop and create designs to stand out from the crowd. At the end, at least your zip code should be included. Depending on whether you have several locations, it also makes sense to place different ads with different location information. What would also be possible to take surrounding places instead of just the big city. This will maximize your chance. But what if a display does not run at all. If you have taken care of all the above points and used really appealing and high-quality images, try to change the order of the title. See this as the heart of your ad, because it increases and decreases the chance of being found in the first place.
