Shopware 6 Discounts & Promotions

How to create a Shopware 6 discount promotion

Configure discounts in Shopware 6 and then activate these discount promotions – Learn how this works in this Shopware 6 Screencast Tutorial. Learn how to create discount promotions in Shopware 6 store and then attach conditions to them to eventually give percentage or absolute discount on certain products.

In this menu item you can find the Shopware 6 discounts & promotions

You can find the discounts & promotions in the main marketing category. We create a new discount promotion by clicking on the designated button in the discount overview and give it a name. We can activate this action with the toggle switch and relate it to a specific sales channel by selecting it in the field below. A validity period can then be specified. If you want to limit the discount action, this can be implemented with the number fields. With this once the total number of redeemable promotions and the number of redeemable promotions per customer are limited. If you do not want this, enter the number “0”. If you already have other actions running, you can use the “Do not combine with” field to exclude certain combinations. If you don’t want to run this promotion globally in your store, but use a discount code, you can define it in the “Promotion code” area. We save the whole thing and see that only afterwards we have the option to go to the tab for conditions and discounts.

Set conditions for Shopware 6 discounts

The Conditions sub-tab offers you the possibility to define rules from the
Rule Builder
to limit your discount promotion based on given conditions. The limitations can be e.g. be applied to certain customer groups or else certain
Conditions are set that apply to the contents of the shopping cart. These can be conditions such as “Goods with a total value of X euros or more are in the shopping cart” or “There are at least 3 products in the shopping cart”.
The last point refers to the orders themselves, which conditions must be present to allow the use of this discount promotion. For this purpose, e.g. include certain payment or shipping methods.

Concrete discount settings to specify how it works

The subitem Discounts allows you to define to what extent a discount is applied here. A distinction is made here between percentage, i.e. proportional, and absolute discounts. You can enter a value for these and specify what they should be applied to. To explain this in more detail, let’s now go through a practical example.

Practical example of a Shopware 6 discount promotion

We are creating a new discount promotion called “30% off everything except swim trunks”. We set the action active and set the period until after the holidays. We do not want to limit the number, so enter 0 for both.
Since this promotion is to apply to all products except swim trunks in our range, we do not need to set any conditions, but go directly to the discounts.
We add a new discount and want to apply it to the shopping cart, but only for selected products, which is why we activate the toggle switch. Since we have not created the exception rule in the Rule Builder before, we define it directly in the Product Rules and Create New Rule field. Give the rules a name and a priority and select as a condition the option Position -> is not one of and pick your item, so in our case the swim trunks. Then, after we have saved the rule, we select it in the Product Rules field. As defined in the action name, we want to give 30% discount and finally save. Thus, we created a discount promotion that gives 30% off all products except “item Y” (in our case, the swim trunks).
