Shopware 6 Dynamic Product Groups

Group your products into product groups

Shopware 6 Dynamic product groups are used to group products according to specified parameters. In this tutorial you will learn how to create and manage these product groups in the administration area of your Shopware 6 store.

Shopware 6 Dynamic Product Group Definition

Today we turn to a topic that has already been touched on in advance – dynamic product groups. This has already been created in our Google Shopping Feed video. But what are these product groups?
Dynamic product groups are groups of products that are formed by dynamic rules and can be played out in different places in your store. To demonstrate this practically, let’s go to Catalogs and Dynamic Product Groups in the left column in our backend. Here you can edit your already created product groups or create a new one.

How the dynamic product groups work

Let’s do that now by clicking on the button in the upper right corner to create a new product group. In order to be able to identify them afterwards, we give the group a name and can also add a more detailed description. However, the real heart of the matter can be found underneath. Here you can also see what makes up these product groups. You can set certain conditions to combine products that match these conditions in this group. That means we want to have products in here that are priced above 3€ and have a stock of at least 10. It is also possible to define subconditions. This means that the product is assigned to the group if it fulfills the main condition AND the secondary condition.
If you want to create a condition separately, there is also the possibility to integrate or-conditions. This means that the product fulfills condition 1 and condition 2, as well as the Subcondition or the condition 3.

Example of a dynamic product group in Shopware 6

If you want to remove a condition, you can do it with the “Remove container” button. You can create a new condition before or after the selected condition using the context menu, i.e. the three dots at the end of the line. We have an example for you: In this example, two conditions must be met for an item to be assigned to this product group. Firstly, the item must be more expensive than 10€. The second condition is considered to be met if the item is either a sale item, or it is an item from that manufacturer.

To finally check which products are assigned to the group, the Preview button can be used to provide clarity.

These conditions exist

If you want to create a condition separately, there is also the possibility to integrate or-conditions. This means that the product fulfills condition 1 and condition 2, as well as the Subcondition or the condition 3.

What can these dynamic product groups in Shopware 6 now be used for?

As already demonstrated in our example, you can define a dynamic product group, e.g. to create a new product group. transfer the products in it to Google Shopping or separately store only this product in a certain area of your storefront.
