How to maintain them in Shopware 6
The following Shopware tutorial shows you how to maintain the essential features in Shopware 6 in order to display additional product information in the checkout. You can find out where you can find this setting and what you need to bear in mind here.
Shopware essential features - what are they?
Different products pose different challenges for a store system. For example, it would be good to know the dimensions if you want to buy a cupboard or the basic price and ingredients when it comes to food. We will now show you how to implement this using templates for the key features in Shopware 6.

Now let’s go directly to the Shopware admin area and, as usual, to the settings. You will also find the essential features at the bottom of the store area. Only a basic price template is integrated as standard. We want to change that by creating a new one. This is intended to be material-related, as it is a household item, so we name it as such. But before we can get to the values below, we have to save once.
Properties are required
Now we can add one or more new fields. In our case, we want to specify a material, so “properties” applies to us. If you don’t have this yet, we recommend you watch the video on the properties linked above on the right. But this is the case for us, so we select material and click on add. For example, do we want add the base price simply click on “Add field” again and add this base price as well. If we decide against it afterwards, we have the option of marking the field we want to delete with a tick and then clicking on the trash can symbol. So far so good.
Shopware key features - Integrate into the product
But in order for our template to be actively used, we have to integrate it into a product. So we go up to the desired product, click on the “Specifications” tab and scroll all the way down. This is also where we find our essential features. We can now use the “Material” template we have just created and save it at the end. If we were to add our product to the shopping cart, both the material and the base price would be displayed here in the checkout. As a small note: If this did not work for you, clear the cache first.
