How you can manage customer groups in Shopware and thus, for example We will show you how to separate your B2C and B2B customers using a practical example in the following Shopware 6 tutorial. We also explain the benefits of managing your customer groups accurately.

How to organize your customers

This video is all about the customer groups in Shopware 6. In this video, we will go through how to manage them, where to find them in the admin area and how to set up a registration form using a practical example.

Manage Shopware customer groups - The settings

We are back in the admin area and go to the settings as usual. Here we also see the settings for the “Customer groups” directly in the store area, where we now click once. By default, we find this customer group with gross prices, which is intended more for B2C customers. This must not be deleted under any circumstances, as this can lead to possible error messages. Instead, we create a new one with the blue button. In order to address retail customers rather than store customers, we are creating a new group for this purpose and naming it the same. Accordingly, they should also be shown net prices instead of gross prices.

The registration form

We also want customers to be able to register themselves, which is why we activate the registration form with this toggle switch. We also name this form according to the customer group. An introductory text can then be entered. This is displayed in front of the form fields, as we will see in a moment.

Manage Shopware customer groups - How to separate your B2B customers

As we only want to manage B2B customers in this group, we also activate the “Only companies can register” field. Let’s leave the meta description aside. If you are interested, we will link you to our Shopware 6 SEO episode here. Finally, it is also relevant for which sales channels this form should apply. In our case, we will select the storefront. Once we have done all this, we save and then see that a URL is generated. For us, the bottom one is relevant for finding the form right away and ultimately also for integrating the form into the storefront.

Manage Shopware customer groups - check in the frontend

Let’s take a look at the registration form by entering our store URL + this end in our browser. This is what the whole thing looks like now. I will now fill in the form as an example in a quick run-through and then we will meet again in the admin area.

Manage Shopware customer groups - the advantages

We should now be able to see a new request in our customer overview. As we can see, this is also the case.
This means that we have the option of accepting or rejecting this customer. But what is it good for?
This gives you the opportunity to offer your B2B customers better prices, but also to activate special payment methods in the first place. If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments.
