Shopware Cloud vs. Gambio Cloud

Two German cloud store systems in comparison 2021

Shopware Cloud vs. Gambio Cloud. The two large, German store systems, which are now also available as SaaS stores. But who appeals to which target group? Find out in our store system comparison video.

Shopware Cloud vs. Gambio Cloud - Statistical Comparison

A further cloud store system comparison of two German store systems awaits you in this article. As we can already see in the video, both of them do not even differ seriously from the number of Internet presences with their system. Even if you look at the local comparison in the DACH region, it balances out. In Germany, a few more Shopware presences are noted, while in Switzerland and Austria, more Gambio stores. But this, of course, includes all presences. Both self-hosted and in the cloud. Which tells you that both systems are now available in the cloud. The advantage to Shopify is that you can decide whether you want to self-host or not.

Shopware Cloud vs. Gambio Cloud - similarities and differences

Both systems have been around for about the same amount of time. To be precise, just under 17 years. Both come from Germany. Where a first difference can be seen. Gambio is very easy to set up. All basic settings can be made by the user. So you don’t need any programming knowledge for Gambio. If you are aiming for an extensive store, there are agencies that can support you. So with Gambio you can start and work your way up to a large company without having to change systems. However, if you want to go beyond that and grow even bigger, Shopware is your system. Shopware tends to be used less by startups. You have to be aware that a successful Shopware store requires a lot of time and also a larger investment .

Shopware in the cloud

For this you can scale, scale, scale with Shopware. However, the whole thing then no longer works in the cloud. But there is the possibility to migrate your store to your own server and thus switch to the Enterprise Edition. So, it can be said that Gambio does not cause any problems, neither from the financial point of view, nor from the know-how point of view, especially for complete newcomers. With Shopware, the entry hurdle was previously somewhat higher, as programming knowledge was required to be able to use the system to its full extent. But this hurdle has now been lowered, through Shopware Cloud. We would recommend this option to those who are just starting out.

The price plans

Since one of the main criteria for startups is price, let’s compare the two. Regular viewers already know – Shopware relies on the freemium model known from Shopify here. The more you pay monthly, the lower the revenue share. That means for the free version it is 3% whereas for the 199€ version it is only 0.5%. Gambio, on the other hand, does not rely on the model. There is no revenue share here no matter which plan you choose. In return, there is a minimum contract term that gets shorter the more expensive the plan. These range from €19.99 – €99.99. If you now say to yourself “Hmmm with Gambio I have to pay directly, with Shopware I can start for free”. That should not be an argument. Because you can also test Gambio for 14 days free of charge and convince yourself of its simplicity. Despite the fact that both systems are intuitive to use and set up, they fulfill all the criteria that a modern store software must provide.
