Make Facebook page visible on Google

To be found better on the Internet, you need a Facebook page. Google loves fresh content, and what could be fresher than a regularly populated social network? Share meaningful content for your community, write good posts and engage with your fans.

4 tips for more Google reach for your Facebook page

  1. Share good content. That’s not just fresh content over and over again, but quality content that adds value to your reader. Background info and do-it-yourself videos are always good. You can also shoot videos yourself if you have good camera equipment and you really know your stuff.
  2. Use meaningful hashtags when sharing. Weigh well how many and which hashtags you take. Posts that have more hashtags than content don’t do well with readers or Google. But it can be useful to include your #hashtags in the #flow text, then it doesn’t look so #artificial.
  3. In the info section you should choose one main category and three subcategories, suitable for your business. The better you hit, the more likely Google is to match your business.
  4. You should also pay attention to your vanity URL. This address, also called “speaking URL”, then looks like this: fb.me/yourcompany – this is of course very easy to remember. This will also create a facebook.com/yourcompany address that you can link to.

Quickly index your Facebook page

If your Facebook page is new, it probably won’t be indexed on Google. To speed this up, you should

  1. link to them on your website and
  2. now unleash Google’s crawler on your site.

If you don’t have a Google account or don’t use the Google Search Console yet, create a new account and legitimize yourself as the owner of the site. After that, let your entire site be crawled. With this you invite the Google Bot to your page, it examines it completely, incl. of all subpages – incl. Facebook – and then includes it in the search index so other people can find it.

To re-crawl individual pages, open the Console again and click on “Retrieval as by Google”. Here you enter your page address and confirm the whole thing. The Google bot will come back to your site again and again, but if you don’t provide a lot of fresh content, it can take a while. This way you can speed up the whole thing.

Furthermore, you should share your Facebook address on other social networks and blogs – if it is relevant and fits the topic. Otherwise, the URL may be penalized.
