Shopware 6 Cross Selling - More sales through recommendations

This article is about a sales practice that occurs both in online and offline commerce and aims to sell the customer other items that match the item he wants to buy. The accurate technical term for this is cross selling. An example of this would be a customer who wants to buy a laptop and is then offered a mouse, keyboard, cleaning cloths, a USB hub, etc., or a customer who wants to buy just one shoe in a shoe store and ends up leaving with a waterproofing spray, 5 pairs of socks, insoles and a cleaning kit. How this can be implemented for your Shopware 6 store, we will explain now.

But how can you apply this to your Shopware store?

How to apply Shopware 6 Cross Selling

To do this, we first go to the backend on catalogs and products. Here we create a new product on the fly. That is, the necessary fields, such as the name, the price, the tax rate and stock must be filled in. For a detailed explanation of how to create a new article, see the blog. Once you click Save, you will see these tabs added. The penultimate item to appear is “cross-selling”. There we go on it and create a new cross sell for the item. Mandatory here in any case is the name. This is then also displayed in the storefront. With the toggle switch you can determine whether the Cross Seling should then also be displayed for this product. As a type, you can either manually assign products or simply specify a predefined dynamic product group to be displayed as cross-selling under the actual product.

Manual assignment vs. dynamic product group

The last two parameters are only used to define the sorting order and to specify the maximum number of products to be displayed in cross-selling on the item detail page. If you decide to use the manual assignment, you can select which products should be displayed. In the frontend it may look like this, if you are on the product detail page of this item. This is how easy you can use cross selling in your store, if you use Shopware 6. If you already do, write us your experiences in the comments.
