Shopify DHL App - The Apllication put under the microscope
This episode is once again about the popular store system Shopify – to be precise, about the shipping process. Since most merchants probably run their shipping processes through DHL, this time we’ll take a look at the Shopify DHL app.
How to install the Shopify DHL app
From the app menu in the Shopify backend, you can quickly get to the Shopify Apps Store and by simply typing in“DHL“, you can add this app in the next step. After that, you will be given more info about it, which you are welcome to read through, we will go directly to Install App. Now we are directly in the dashboard.
This already tells us some features. Namely, you can buy shipping labels for Print DHL Paket, DHL Paket International and DHL Warenpost. If you go up there you will see another exciting feature the Tracking ID. This means that you automatically receive a tracking code for each label, so that both you and the customer always know where their package is. But also desired deliveries – i.e. customer requests, when thise is at home and the package should be delivered, can be taken into account with this.
But now the question arises – who can use all this?
Requirements to be able to use the app
In order to use DHL shipping, and therefore also the Shopify app, you need a valid business customer contract with DHL Paket including valid access data for the DHL business customer portal. By the way, you can then add this data under “DHL account“. If you don’t have it yet, you can easily register for it with this link here. Otherwise, under General Settings you can select the name that would be printed on the label for you, as well as the weight and dimensions of your standard package. Once you are done with all the basic settings, you would be able to go to your orders, select the desired order and get the option to print a DHL label.
In the next step, weight information can be entered and services such as desired day or package notification can be selected. So you have found a working solution to fully link DHL with your Shopify store.
