But now back to the topic. In the following, I’ll introduce you to a free, a cheap and a slightly more expensive but since 2014 established subscription app. Let’s start with PayWhirl. With this, instead of one-time sales, you can offer subscriptions that customers can then manage themselves. So for example. exchange the payment method if it changes. In addition, the billing is done automatically. You also have the option to test the different plans for 14 days or to go directly to the Free Plan, which will also give you the highest revenue share. The more you pay for the plan, the lower this revenue share becomes.
But let’s take a look at a test store with an integrated PayWhirl Subscription Payments extension. We go here times on a product and see already in the product detail view that we have the possibility to distinguish between a one-time purchase and a subscription. We can then choose whether it should be a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly subscription. The more often, the more discount we will get. This way you actually create a real incentive for the customer. In the shopping cart, we then see again that it is a 15% discount due to a subscription, so we only pay $17 instead of $20.
The second extension is called Subscription & Recurring Order from SpurIT UAB. You can also test them for 60 days. The comments also confirm that the integration and application is quick and easy.
This is also integrated with Shopify Checkout, but this is true for all three.
The app does exactly the same as PayWhirl’s, but here we can also flexibly design and customize the subscriber rules. However, the app differs significantly in the pricing model. You’ll pay $19.99 per month, but you’ll pay 0% commission. The whole thing looks very similar to the PayWhirl app. You can choose the frequency and see how much discount you get. However, which one you want to offer is up to you. This can be regulated with the subscription rules. You can also customize the design according to your CI and individualize the text. You’ll have to see for yourself whether this is worth the extra financial outlay.
Probably the longest running app is called Bold Subscription. Promised here is a quick to set up, user friendly and shopping cart dropout reducing app.What makes this app different is the layout alone. If we go to a product in the Bold test store, we see that this is not a standard screen like in the other apps, but a visually descriptive widget. You can distinguish between a one-time order and a subscription, whereby it is immediately clear to you how much percentage you save. Then you can specify again in detail in which frequency should be delivered. Then the cup no longer costs 15$, but 12,79$ and also here it is indicated in which rotation the subscription should take place. Here, too, there is a single plan that is significantly more expensive, but you can see for yourself what you get. A responsive design, world class support and overall an out-of-the-box working Shopify subscription extension.
