To avoid this, a high-performance, intelligent search should be used, among other things. How to use this high-end search function for Shopware 6, you will learn in this article.

I think the advantages of a functioning search function in online stores are obvious. On the one hand, it is of course important to have a clear and plausible navigation, but if customers know exactly what they want, this is also an unnecessary time waster. It would be better if the customer would enter the first letters and get his result. Let’s take a look at this for a traditional online store with a community plan. Well, it doesn’t work out quite the way we imagined.
If we try this in another store, a performant search engine will look like this. Without having entered the whole word, we are already shown hits. For this purpose, the product is visually presented to us live next to it. So purposeful, intelligent and elegant. An error tolerance is also included in this. If you enter “Lof” instead of “Löf”, the spoon you are looking for is still suggested. These would be points that distinguish an intelligent search engine from a just-purpose-fulfilling search. Accordingly, the whole thing is also called Enterprise Search by Shopware. Let’s take a closer look at what else it can do. We can already see here that this is an enterprise extension, based on the enterprise price plan for Shopware 6.
As the basis of this, an Elasticsearch is mandatory. But what is an Elasticsearch?
In summary, this is an advanced search and analysis engine that allows you to visualize data about products in real time. If you want to know more about Elasticsearch and especially the integration, go to the link in the Shopware doc on Enterprise Search. Otherwise, we are also happy to help you professionally. Another approach would be the Shopware Store, where Elasticsearch apps already exist. Once you have made sure that this is active and you have the Enterprise plan, you can download Enterprise Search from the Extensions and “My Extensions” section.
The settings of this then look like this. General settings are displayed in the “Overview” tab and are configurable. A simulation of the search engine can be seen in the “Preview” tab and with “Boostings” certain products, categories etc. can be boosted, i.e. changed in the ranking. You can decide how many manufacturers, products and categories should ultimately be displayed in the preview search. The whole thing can be set more explicitly in the “Searchable information” area. This can then be used to specify which elements should be suggested, which should be prioritized and which should be hidden.
The preview can then be used to simulate the respective searches. The higher the score, the higher the ranking. The ranking is calculated using Elasticsearch search algorithms. Boosting then gives you the opportunity to make targeted configuration options, for example, to display certain products higher up in the search results.
