The topic of “online retailers” will also be the focus of today’s discussion. As a retailer, you first have to ask yourself the fundamental question: online store or online marketplace. You know our opinion on this – it’s not an either/or question. However, this video is not about multichannel topics, but about what is in store for you once you have decided to go online. Now why is an online store more like a car than a vase. You buy a vase once, you put it down and then that’s it. A car is also something you usually buy, but then you don’t put it down, you use it, which causes wear and tear. This means the car needs to be serviced, repaired or parts changed. It is similar with the online store as well. Why a Shopware store must be maintained, you will now learn. Number 1 on the list is updates. Every store system, whether Shopware, Magento, JTL-Shop or Shopify is in a state of flux, and that’s a good thing. Technical progress, changing needs, new legal regulations that require adjustments, there are some reasons why an online store will never keep the status quo permanently. However, blindly updating would not only be unwise, but also negligent and not recommended. That’s why we at eBakery create a staging environment before each update to test that update. You may have noticed a feature in another online store and would like to have it integrated as well. Then we can see if this function is feasible or create it through custom programming.
Once your store is set up, the marketing is pulling and this is well received, you will see that you will scale. Then it’s time to seize the opportunity and go multichannel.
