How to use the WhatsApp ChatGPT chatbot for your company. In this tutorial, we will show you how to connect WhatsApp to ChatGPT using middleware so that your customer inquiries can be answered by the AI. Today’s episode called “WhatsApp ChatGPT ChatBot” is not only a tongue twister, but will also appeal to many entrepreneurs in online retail, among others, but also outside the eCommerce world. We’ll show you how to connect a chatbot for your WhatsApp Business account via API that responds with the help of ChatGPT AI.
Now a brief overview of what you need for this. Firstly, you must of course be registered with WhatsApp, and secondly, a connection must be created between ChatGPT and WhatsApp, this middleware is called WOZTELL. We’ll explain what that is in a moment. In plain language, this means you need three things.
A WhatsApp account, a Woztell account and a ChatGPT account. Then all three can be connected in just a few steps. We’ll show you how to do this in a moment. First, let’s take a closer look at WOZTELL. WOZTELL is a meta communication application. This means that not only WhatsApp is supported, but also the messenger you know from Facebook and Instagram. With WOZTELL, you can create your own chatbot to take over communication with customers.
But how are all three connected?
We will not discuss how to create a WhatsApp and ChatGPT account here. We have already gone through the latter in the episode linked above on the right. Both are free of charge. But WOZTELL can also be used free of charge for the time being. Namely for one channel and 100 monthly active users.
All you have to do is go to the website, click on Start for Free and create an account. It should then look something like this in your home. The first thing we want to do is download the ChatGPT extension from the Marketplace. So we click on “Learn more” and then on “Get Extension”. We can give our alias a name and, if necessary, a description. And then install the whole thing. Now you need to log in with your ChatGPT account in a new tab at: https://platform.openai.com/api-keys and create a new API key. It is best to give the whole thing a name from the start that you can also assign if you use ChatGPT later with other programs. We must now enter this API key in WOZTELL.
Now it depends on how good you already are at prompting. A prompting instruction must now be given to the chatbot as to how it should behave towards the customer. As a rule, English prompts are still best processed by ChatGPT. This can look like this: “Imagine you are a SchoolBagFactory front desk customer agent. You do not mention other brands or promote them. Only promote your own SchoolBagFactory brand.” Make a separate note of these, we will still need them.
The more information you provide, the more precise the bot will be. You can also fine-tune how many messages from this customer’s chat history should be taken into account in the response, which model should be used and how much creative freedom you give the AI. A temperature of 0.1 is very uncreative. A temperature of 0.8 gives the bot a lot of leeway. This concludes the ChatGPT part. Now it’s time to create your own chatbot. To do this, we go to “Builder” and “Create Chatbot” in the navigation menu. Assign a name and a description to the bot and save. Now we need to create a Global and a General Node. In the general node, we now have to define the trigger, the action and the response.
For the trigger, we select “Predefine Triggers” and “Any Text”. For the action, we select “ChatGPT (Text Completion)”. Again, the 3-5-turbo model of ChatGPT must be selected and your prompt from before must be entered at the end. If you have certain instructions on how not to react after a response, then enter these additional prompts under “After User Prompt”. Then you just have to enter a specific command as the response, which is: {{botMeta.tempData.openAICompletionResult}}.
Once you have done all this, save the entire bot creation and go to your account. Here you will find your channels in the left column. If you have not yet created the WhatsApp channel, click on “New Channel”. Our project involves a WhatsApp Cloud, which we need. Click on Create Channel again and give this channel a name and a description. Your channel has now been assigned an individual ID. What follows is the WhatsApp Business Channel setup process. This means you can either create a new WhatsApp Business account using the Facebook Business Manager or link your existing account and go through the individual steps. Once you have done this, go to “Chatbot Settings” in the left-hand column and create a new ChatBot under “Default”. Here you will also find the chatbot you have just created, which you now only need to select and click on “Select All” for the global node. Save at the end and you can use ChatGPT as a ChatBot assistant for WhatsApp Business.
It should also be noted that the quality of the assistant depends heavily on how good your prompt is. The best results will probably not be achieved straight away.
