How to remove branding from your Shopify online store
Removing the “Powered by Shopify” watermark from your Shopify store – that’s what this Shopify Screencast episode is all about. We will show you two variants of how to remove Shopify branding from your online store.
Here you can find the "Powered by Shopify" branding to be removed
One element that is probably still part of your Shopify store, but that you could do without, is the Shopify Watermark “Powered by Shopify”. In this blog article we explain two methods how to remove this mostly unwanted branding from your store. For those who don’t know what we are talking about, let’s demonstrate this in the frontend. If you scroll all the way down to your footer, you’ll see the “Powered by Shopify branding.
Remove "Powered by Shopify" - Variant #1
For solution number one, let’s go to the backend, click on our online store to see the submenus and go to Themes.
For the simpler variant, click on Actions and select “Edit languages”. Here you have the option to search for “Powered by” and by clicking once on the field and pressing the space bar, you can remove this watermark. After saving, we go to our frontend using the preview function and see that it has been removed. If we enter this again in the backend, it is again also back in the frontend.
Variant #2 to remove the "Powered by Shopify".
With this, variant two can be presented, for which we need to go into the code. To do this, we start again in the main menu of the themes and click on“Edit code” under Actions. Here we first locate the footer file by simply typing “footer“. Clicking on the result will show us the code. We can search this with Cmd + F or Ctrl + F for Windows. So we enter “Powered by” again and remove this section and save. If we go back to the frontend, we see that even with this approach the code was removed.
Thus, we have implemented our plan.
