In this video we will show you how to convert your Shopify account and your Shopify theme to German.

Let’s start directly with the conversion of your Shopify account to German:

The settings in the Shopify account

First and foremost, log into your Shopify account and then go to “manage Account”. Once there, scroll down until you reach the Language item. Here you can already see that English was selected. The language you select here is the language you will see your account in when you log in to Shopify. Select “German” here and click on “save” in the upper right corner.

How to change the language of the Shopify theme

Themes are mostly developed by American agencies and therefore, after you have integrated them into your online store, mostly in English at first.
However, the language of the themes can also be changed to German relatively easily:

To do this, first go to “Online Store” in the admin area. The current theme is displayed here. Now click on Actions and then on Edit language.
Now a new page will open where you can change the theme language in the upper right corner.
If you have selected the language, the displayed areas will be translated automatically. But here you can also make improvements yourself.
