Add Shopify Payments

Add Shopify payment methods and don’t forget any mandatory data when entering it, we’ll show you how in the latest Shopify tutorial. Simply and quickly add the usual payments and offer your customers a wide range of options.

Add payment methods for Shopify in the backend

In our Shopify backend, we go to Settings at the bottom left to do this. There we can also already find the payment settings and see the logos we know. A lot of popular payment methods are covered with Shopify Payments. Therefore, we go to Complete account setup and enter the necessary information. This includes the question whether our company is registered in the commercial register, whether we are liable for VAT, where our business address is located and personal data about our person.

Pay attention to the difference between sales tax ID and tax ID

Do not confuse the VAT ID number with the tax ID here. Every adult citizen of a country is assigned this number, which can be requested from your tax office. Then enter more detailed information about your industry. At the end the Enter billing descriptor and phone number. These are necessary in order to be displayed on your customers’ account statements. And of course your IBAN to finally receive the money in your account.

Beyond Shopify Payments, additional Shopify payment methods can be added

Better safe than sorry, so read the terms of use and find out if you agree with them. If yes, complete the account setup here, then you will be shown the management options afterwards. For the sake of completeness, I list the payment methods that are included, including Visa and Mastercard, Maestro and American Express, as well as Klarna invoice and Sofort. Accelerated Checkouts include Shopify Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay, which are also included. You can set up PayPal separately afterwards, which is super easy to set up and therefore self-explanatory, which is why we will not show this process here. Amazon Pay should also be a term that most people know, which can also be set up as a payment method. Everything else is either already covered by Shopify Pay or is very tricky and needs to be looked at individually.
For an automated process you should select and save Automatically accept payments for orders at the very bottom.
