Then you will find a sub-item for “Domains”. Here you have three different options.
Option 1 you buy a Shopify domain, Option 2 you join an existing domain or Option 3 you transfer a domain.
Before we continue here, we’ll explain the pros and cons in this regard.

Connect your own domain with Shopify - The 3 options

Option 1 has the advantage that at first glance it is the easiest method, because you have everything from one source. So you don’t need another login, thus one password less and this would be directly connected to your store automatically. This also means fewer sources of error.
Unless Shopify itself has, for example. times server problems, then you are doubly affected. And Shopify itself doesn’t offer email hosting, so we’d have to work with redirects for that. Accordingly, the advantages of an external hosting provider are obvious. In most cases, email hosting is offered directly and you are therefore flexible and independent.
However, the setup can be a bit more complicated if you have to do it manually. This only has to be done once and can be done by the store experts of eBakery.

Connect third party domains

The can be acquired bspw. at all-inkl, ionos or godaddy. Once you have done this, click on “Connect existing domain”.
Here you enter your purchased domain and click on “Next”. For this video, we assume that an automatic connection is possible. If this is not the case, please contact us and we will connect your domain immediately. Now click on “Connect automatically”, whereupon a pop-up window of your provider will appear. Log in with your hosting provider login data and go through the displayed steps. Now it can take up to 48 hours until the domain is verified and listed. Afterwards it will look like this.
If the correct domain is selected as the primary domain, you do not need to do anything else. If you want to select another domain listed here as Primary, click on it and select “Set as Primary”.
