Google analysis tool under the microscope

Today’s episode is interesting for all those who want to rely on Google SEO, that is, improve your rankings in the SERPs and preferably without a large investment. At least to some extent, we can do justice to this in today’s episode. Because we will show you a tool that is free of charge and provides you with a clear overview of all your collected data. But should you rather look for experts who support you in bringing more traffic to your store organically or through paid ads? Then we at eBakery are happy to support you as an SEO agency.

What is the Google Data Studio?

But what is the visualization tool just mentioned?
We are talking about Google Data Studio. But what is it?
Google Data Studio is by no means a new data collection tool, as it pulls data from Google Analytics, Google Ads, Google Search Console and many more. What the tool then does is present this data in a visually understandable and descriptive way. This can be done in the form of timelines, maps, bar charts, tables and 28 other graphs. You can do it completely manually and create your own report from scratch or benefit from existing presets. For example, a predefined report can provide information about how your YouTube account is performing. So what is the average watch time of your channel or of a specific video. What your core geographic areas are, whether your videos are being shared, what the overall interaction rate is, and more. This, in turn, can help you target your content more specifically to your audience. In the same way, you can also go through this specifically for Google using Google Search Console Sheets.

Google Data Studio practical examples

To show you how easy it is to create your own area, let’s go through this example. An important key figure for online retailers are the clicks on their own website. Let’s visualize it then. For the top bar we will create a background using the Shapes tool. In this we place our period control on the right side and a dropdown list on the left side. For these, we want to select the query as the control field to then assign the “Clicks” measurement value. So far so good, but now we want to illustrate the whole thing. So let’s choose a timeline as a chart type, place it in the main field and get our click numbers displayed visually. One could now also add the impressions in comparison, for this one would simply add another measured value.

Manual dashboard setup with Google Data Studio

Now you can use e.g. filter for a specific keyword, like “Hoodies for Men”, you could select a specific time period and see that it adjusts visually afterwards as well. So you can create any dashboard configuration you want to keep track of your data the way you want it, whether it’s a pie chart, a geo chart, an area chart for any metrics that your specified data source outputs.

Advantages and disadvantages

So what are the compelling arguments for Google Data Studios? The barrier to entry is virtually non-existent. Neither technically nor financially. Because Data Studio is free of charge. “Enter “datastudio.google.com” and just get started. The only one is a Google account and the necessary property. By the way, you can find out how to create them in our Google Playlist, which we have linked to you in the upper right corner.
But on the other hand, are there also downsides?
Depending. For those who are bothered by the fact that there are no notifications and no export function for reports, there are drawbacks. For everyone else, this is the perfect tool to visualize data in a collected way and always keep an eye on it. Because once you have created a report, it will also be saved
