Shopify One-Page Checkout Setup

We show how it works

We’ll show you how to set up the Shopify One-Page Checkout in this video. First of all, it should be said that a few requirements must be met so that the new, native One-Page Checkout also works in your store. We explain what these are in the following video.

The One-Page Checkout

What this video will be about is Shopify’s native One-Page Checkout, which was announced as part of the Editions 23 campaign. How you can get it and what the advantages are for you as an online retailer and your customers, you can find out here. If you don’t know us yet, we are eBakery, an established Shopify agency with over 135 informative videos just on this topic. The jam-packed playlist is linked here, as is our agency page. Multi-Page vs. One-Page Checkout

But what makes the one-page checkout so special and what are previous checkout types actually called?
Until now, the rule, especially with Shopify, was to have a multipage checkout, as we can see here.
You can see that the customer has to go through a four-step process. From the shopping cart, to the information about a self, to the shipping details, to the payment method at the end. Every single step guarantees the risk of a shopping cart abandonment and thus a worsening conversion rate. That’s why one-page checkouts are now preferred. But what does one of these look like?

This is what the One-Page Checkout looks like

Finally, all the steps just mentioned are switched one after the other. So first the address data, then the shipping method and at the end the desired payment method. By the way, the right side remains the same for both checkouts. But how do we get this new one-page checkout for our store as well?

Shopify One-Page Checkout Setup - Option 1

There are 2 different options available to you. Option 1: You are one of the merchants who do not have a Shopify Plus plan, but are in the Early Access program and can therefore use One-Page Checkout. Whether you are or not, you can see that when you go into the settings and look into the submenu for the checkout. If you see this banner at the top telling you that you have Early Access, then you can simply click on “Update Checkout” and you would find it in the Theme Editor. As you can see here, you can also switch back to the three-page checkout at any time.

Shopify One-Page Checkout Setup - Option 2

Option number 2 is: You have a Shopify Plus plan. Then you can easily switch between the one and three page checkout directly in the theme editor. But that’s not the only thing the Plus Plan offers you, since the Summer Editions update, the checkout can also be customized more deeply according to your own wishes and needs. If this is your concern, but you lack the technical know-how, then you are very welcome to contact eBakery. Our developers will be happy to help you with the technical implementation of your specific wishes.
